Many are accustomed to the fact that traffic rules exist only for drivers. Unfortunately, sometimes a dangerous situation on the road is created, incl. and pedestrians. To prevent this from happening, there are some simple rules on how to cross a pedestrian crossing.
Instructions
Step 1
Pedestrian crossing - a special area of the carriageway, which is allocated for pedestrians to cross to the other side of the road or street. For their designation, road signs or markings are used. Pedestrian crossings also include special artificial structures over the carriageway.
Step 2
There are two types of pedestrian crossings: ground and off-street. Each of them has several types. Ground ones are regulated and unregulated. Underground and aboveground passages are off-street. In one case or another, there are road signs on both sides near such a zone.
Step 3
According to the traffic rules (clause 4.3), pedestrians must cross the carriageway at pedestrian crossings, including underground and overhead crossings. If they are absent, you can cross at intersections along the line of sidewalks or shoulders. If there is no crossing or intersection in the visibility zone, the rules are allowed to cross the road at right angles to the edge of the carriageway in areas without a dividing strip and fences where it is clearly visible in both directions.
Step 4
An unregulated pedestrian crossing is not equipped with traffic lights, or they are out of order. In this case, drivers are obliged to give way to pedestrians. For safety, look in all directions, left and right, to make sure there is no car rushing towards you before crossing the street. Please note that there may be special service vehicles on the road, for example, an ambulance. After you have made sure that the road is clear, cross over to the other side. Better hold the children by the hand.
Step 5
Regulated pedestrian crossings include those that are equipped with traffic lights in working order. In this case, crossing to the other side of the road is allowed only on a green light. Some traffic lights at pedestrian crossings in places of high traffic are equipped with a special button. If it is necessary to cross the road, press the button. After a short time, the green light comes on. Also, more and more often there are traffic lights equipped with a timer, which indicates the time after which this or that light will light up. Do not cross the road if you do not have time to do so in the remaining time. The drivers are impatient too.
