On January 19, on the great feast of the Epiphany of the Lord, Orthodox believers come to the church to collect holy water. But what can I say, according to beliefs, all the water on this day becomes holy, and those who collect it at home or in any clean body of water can freely use it all year along with the one brought from the temple. So what is the correct way to use baptismal water, and are there any restrictions on this?

Instructions

Step 1

Holy water can be stored not only for the first days after baptism, but for the entire subsequent year. It is best to place it in the area of the iconostasis in the red corner of the apartment. If there is no specially equipped iconostasis in the house, a bottle of holy water should be stored next to any icon or icons. You should not treat the drinking of holy water as a regular medication or therapy. Every water intake should be done with prayer and reverence. The main power of such water is precisely in the Orthodox faith in its miracle, which is why the effect is achieved only if a person is serious about drinking water and piously believes in subsequent healing.

Step 2

If an unbeliever consumes holy water, it will have no effect on him. Also, there will be no effect from the use of holy water without the knowledge of the patient. Therefore, if you are going to secretly add holy water to drink or soup to someone from your friends and relatives, do not waste time on this. Water should be taken only consciously and with special reverence and prayer. Believers should take holy water daily, on an empty stomach in the morning. If, for health reasons, this may be undesirable, then they drink water during the day, but always with prayer.

Step 3

Epiphany water should be used only for treatment or sprinkling of the home. Under no circumstances use it for household and household needs and do not pour it into the sewer or toilet. If the holy water has deteriorated, it should be poured into the river or watered with some plants, and the container in which it was stored should no longer be used. With baptismal water, which stood in your house for a year and deteriorated, you should do the same. If, even after a year, the water remains in good condition, it can be used further.
