The creator and frontman of Therr Maitz, composer and vocalist Anton Belyaev skyrocketed to the Russian musical Olympus in 2013, when he took part in the program of the First Channel "Voice". After the very first performance, he became popular. The audience noted his smile, lightness, charm. Today his YouTube videos, despite the complex music and singing in English, receive several hundred thousand, and some millions, views. But this success is not accidental. This is a natural result of Anton Belyaev's dedication and passion for music.
Biography
Anton Belyaev was born in 1979 in the far northern region - in Magadan. From an early age, it became clear to his parents that the boy was musically gifted. Already at the age of 5 he was sent to a music school, where he studied piano. The way to the music school passed through the central park, where the "nerd" could easily run into the fists of the local punks. However, this did not happen, since Anton was able to become one of them.
The boy often performed on stage, received certificates and awards. However, in a world not connected with music, he was completely different - rebellious, not recognizing authority. As a result, he was expelled from a school with an in-depth study of the English language, and he had to finish the 9th grade in another.
After school, Belyaev entered the music school. But from there he was expelled, however, not for hooliganism, but for his excessive love of jazz. Anton was saved only by the fact that, at the insistence of his mother, he left for Khabarovsk under the supervision of his older sister. There he entered and in 2002 successfully graduated from the jazz department of the Institute of Culture.
He combined his studies with work in restaurants and clubs. Thanks to this, already in 2004, a young man was invited to the position of art director of one of them. Then he has the opportunity to realize his potential as a composer, singer and musician performing his own compositions - the band Therr Maitz appears. The name of the group is a remade of the word "termites", in English "thermites".
In 2006 Anton moved to Moscow, where he worked as a producer and arranger for famous Russian musicians, including Polina Gagarina, Tamara Gverdtsiteli, Maxim Pokrovsky, Nikolai Baskov.
In 2013, at the insistence of his wife and bandmates, he takes part in the second season of the "Voice" competition, where he reaches the final and becomes a semifinalist. After the project, he leads an intensive concert activity, shoots clips and records albums.
A family
Anton Belyaev's parents belonged to the Soviet intelligentsia. Mom was a teacher at school and taught computer science. My father was also involved with computers and worked as an electronics engineer in a computer center.
His parents moved to Magadan from Kazakhstan in 1962. Anton is the second child in the family. He has an older sister, Lilia, who studied to be a technical librarian. The difference between them is 11 years.
For many years Belyaev led a life typical for a musical get-together. As he himself put it in the program “Alone with everyone,” it was a gulba: here today, there tomorrow. Anton did not plan to settle down, let alone marry. The meeting with his future wife happened by chance - he went into a cafe, saw a girl and immediately fell in love. It was Yulia Markova, a journalist by training, TV presenter and correspondent for the Muz TV channel.
A week later, Anton presented Yulia with a toothbrush and that very donkey, which became his talisman on "The Voice". The future husband and wife began to live together. The marriage proposal was also made spontaneously, during one of the concerts. In 2012, a wedding took place, and in 2017 the couple had a son, Semyon.
Group
Anton Belyaev calls his vocal abilities “not outstanding”. However, it has its own recognizable style. He escaped the fate that overtakes almost all musicians who sing in restaurants - the loss of individuality. And this happened thanks to the creation of his own musical group Therr Maitz, as well as the fact that Anton himself writes music and lyrics. All his works are in English. To date (autumn 2018) 4 albums have been released.
