The familiar to us barcode, which is a picture with black and white stripes, can be found on almost any product manufactured in a factory way. The barcode contains information about the country in which the product is manufactured, about the product itself, and about its manufacturer, often with contact information. Checking and decrypting a barcode in the presence of the Internet is a matter of a couple of minutes.
Instructions
Step 1
At the end of the last century, a unified information system of the global register of participants in the GS1 international system (GEPIR) was organized, with the help of which it is possible to obtain information encrypted in a barcode over the Internet. The data is provided free of charge, and you can use the service an unlimited number of times.
Step 2
To check or recognize the barcode you are interested in, go to the official Russian-language GEPIR website on the Internet at www.gs1ru.org
Step 3
In the "Quick Links" menu, which is located on the right side of the main page of the site, click the active link "Check barcode" in the "Tools" section.
Step 4
On the page that opens, select the "Search by barcode (GTIN)" section if you are interested in a regular barcode indicated on the goods. If you need to recognize the serial shipping container code, go to the Search Serial Shipping Package Code (SSCC) section.
Step 5
Now you can enter the barcode number and indicate what kind of information you would like to receive: about the product or about its manufacturer.
Step 6
Please note that after completing the request, you can immediately get the rest of the barcode data without re-entering it.
