In the winter he went skiing, and in the summer he played tennis with his father, the rest of the time was devoted to football. My father was more agile and stronger and at the same time never gave in, this tempered the character of the future football player and coach.
Jurgen Klopp changed a huge number of clubs at the youth and senior level before he was able to achieve any results. He could really start playing only in 1990 at Mainz 05, at that time it is a club of the second division of Germany. In it, Jurgen played 325 matches, and during this time he scored 52 goals.
Coaching career
In 2001, Klopp took over as head coach of Mainz 05 as a temporary replacement. But thanks to his high-quality work and high results, he took this place on a permanent basis. In just three years of work at the club, Klopp managed to bring the club to the top division of Germany, where he took 11th place at the end of the season.
In 2005, "Mainz 05", led by Klopp, achieved incredible success, they made their way to the Champions League qualification, but in the third round they lost to the reigning champions - the club from Spain "Sevilla". In 2007, the club could not hold out in the Bundesliga and was relegated to the second division. In 2008, Klopp announced that he would leave the team if they were unable to return to the Bundesliga. The club was unable to break into the top division, and on June 30, 2008, Klopp resigned as head coach.
Since July 1, 2008, Jurgen Klopp has become the head coach of Borussia Dortmund. Thanks to his work in this team, Klopp became known not only in Germany but throughout the world. Over the 7 years of his work, Borussia twice became the champion of Germany, won the German Cup, and even became a finalist of the Champions League in 2013, where in a purely German final they lost to Bayern Munich with a score of 1-2.
