In the West, actors are not awarded honorary titles. Their professionalism is measured by awards from national film academies and international festivals. In the Soviet Union, and then in Russia, the titles of People's and Honored Artist appeared. However, no awards can replace the audience's love.
Instructions
Step 1
The title "People's Artist of the USSR" was established by the All-Russian Central Executive Committee on September 6, 1936. It became the first highest honorary title in the country. For the first time it was awarded to the founders of the Moscow Art Theater Konstantin Sergeevich Stanislavsky and Vladimir Ivanovich Nemirovich-Danchenko, its leading actors Ivan Moskvin and Vasily Kachalov, as well as the outstanding opera singer Antonina Nezhdanova. The first folk artists also included the composer Alexander Glazunov and the great masters of the opera stage Fyodor Chaliapin and Leonid Sobinov. In total, over the years of existence, the title "People's Artist of the USSR" was awarded to 1006 people. The last, in 1991, before the collapse of the Soviet Union, it was received by the veteran of the Moscow Art Theater Sophia Pilyavskaya, the famous actor Oleg Yankovsky and the "prima donna of the Russian stage" Alla Pugacheva.
Step 2
In modern Russia, other honorary titles have been preserved - "People's Artist of the Russian Federation" and "Honored Artist of the Russian Federation". The title of honored artist is considered lower than the title of national, but it is a mandatory step on the way to getting it. It is assigned to artists and directors of theater, cinema, stage and circus, as well as musicians, choirmasters, choreographers and conductors. Of course, by this time they must have won some recognition and have worked in the field of art for at least 10 years. You can become a People's Artist only 5 years after receiving the title of deserved. Although, of course, not every honored artist is honored with it. It is interesting that in Moscow theaters, where quite a lot of honored artists work, this title is often depreciated, only the title of national is considered truly high.
Step 3
It is worth noting that not all talented and beloved artists have managed to get the honorary title. Suffice it to recall such iconic figures of the Soviet screen of the 70s - 80s. 20th century, like Vladimir Vysotsky, Oleg Dal and Andrei Mironov. Having achieved absolutely incredible popular love, Vladimir Vysotsky was never a People's Artist, and was awarded the title of Honored only posthumously. The charming and intelligent Oleg Dal had no titles at all and bitterly called himself a "foreign" artist. The brilliant Andrei Mironov received the greatest recognition, but he also did not become People's Artist of the USSR and was content with the more modest title of People's Artist of the RSFSR. Many other examples can be cited.
