Obtaining Russian citizenship for a resident of Belarus is not so difficult as it might seem at first glance. And the existing scheme for obtaining Russian citizenship in a simplified manner reduces the entire procedure to 3-4 months.
Instructions
Step 1
So, if you are a citizen of Belarus, but for one reason or another decided to acquire Russian citizenship, first of all, check whether you can obtain citizenship under a simplified scheme. The conditions are simple:
- You have parents or other close relatives (sisters, brothers, grandparents and even grandchildren or granddaughters.) Who live in the territory of Russia and are its citizens.
- You were born or lived in Russia until 1991.
- You received your education in one of the Russian universities or secondary vocational educational institution after July 1, 2002.
- And finally, you have been married to a citizen of the Russian Federation for at least three years.
If your situation meets at least one of the points, congratulations! Soon you can change your Belarusian citizenship to Russian.
Step 2
You can submit documents both at the Russian Embassy in Minsk, and directly at the FMS office in Russia at the place of residence.
To successfully obtain Russian citizenship, prepare the following:
- Application for admission to citizenship in a simplified manner.
- Birth certificate and passport. As well as any document confirming departure for permanent residence in Russia. As a rule, this is a regular departure sheet.
- You will also need 3 photos.
- If necessary, be prepared to provide other documents (marriage certificate, information on changing the last name, first name or patronymic, educational diplomas or documents confirming family ties).
- In some cases, a certified translation of documents into Russian may be required.
- And do not forget to pay the state duty in the amount of 2000 rubles.
You will have to say goodbye to Belarusian citizenship by writing a waiver at the stage of submission of documents.
Step 3
If you do not fall under the simplified procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship, then you will have to apply for citizenship on a general basis.
To do this, you need to apply for a residence permit and live in Russia for 5 years. As a rule, the time it takes to consider your question after all documents have been submitted will take 1 year. And then finally you will become the owner of a Russian passport.
