Eric Anthony Roberts is a famous American actor, who has more than a hundred films on his account. He is nominated for such prestigious awards as "Golden Globe" and "Oscar", which serves as an undeniable proof of his acting talent. Eric is the brother of the equally famous Hollywood actress Julia Roberts.
Eric Roberts was born in 1956 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Walter Roberts, his father, was a theater studio manager and director. Eric made his on-camera debut at the age of five when he played a supporting role in a home play directed by his father called Little Pioneers.
As a child, the boy stuttered badly, and his father decided that memorizing texts could help his son get rid of this ailment as soon as possible. All the time going on stage and playing rather difficult dramatic roles, the boy grew up much faster than his classmates, so he could not find a common language with his peers.
Seeing that Eric has the makings of an actor, Walter Roberts decided by all means to give him the best acting education. For this reason, as soon as his son was sixteen, Walter sent him to London, where the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts is located. After graduating from it, Eric entered the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.
In 1976, young Eric got an opera entitled "Another World". Despite the fact that she lasted less than a year on television, the young actor was still noticed.
Some time later, he starred in The Gypsy Baron, which became a kind of debut for Roberts. Film critics and viewers noticed the appearance of a strange young man with wild habits and an amazingly beautiful - at the same time spiritual and vicious face. In 1984, together with Mickey Rourke, Eric took part in the filming of The Godfather of Greenwich Village. From that time on, they became very good buddies.
