John Alberto Leguizamo was born in the Colombian city of Bogota in 1964. His ancestry includes Colombians, Italians, Lebanese and Puerto Ricans. His father at one time wanted to become a director, even studied at one of the film studios, but he did not have enough funds to get an education. Therefore, when John became an actor, his father supported him.

When he was four years old, the Leguizamo family moved to the United States and settled in Queens. This is a huge area, where mainly immigrants from Latin America and partly from Asia live. The Jackson Heights neighborhood, where John spent his childhood, was distinguished by the cruelty of its inhabitants, fights and scandals. A boy from a family of immigrants first learned to fight, and then began to make others laugh to defuse the situation. He did it very well.

Despite the poverty, the parents managed to send their son to study at the Higher Business School. John studied well, but he constantly thought that he wanted to become not a businessman, but an actor. Therefore, immediately after receiving his education in business, he entered the theater courses.

And then his "comic everyday life" began: he performed in clubs as a pop artist - he made the audience laugh. In 1986, he managed to get into the series "Miami Police: Department of Morals", and this work fell to his taste.

Film career

Serious filming began with him in the 90s, and his first success came after filming the drama Hanging Out With Friends (1991). Here John had the lead role, and she was so inspired that he made his theatrical show "Mambo Mouth", where he himself created 7 characters. The talent of the comedian helped this show become a hit of the show, receiving positive reviews from critics. A little later this show was filmed on television. After that, John was recognized as an excellent showman, and he began regular performances in Chicago and New York.

The first roles of John in the movie were the roles of villains, and he did them superbly. And his favorite comedic character was the role of a woman in the film "Wong Fu …", where he played along with Wesley Snipes and Patrick Swayze and was nominated for a Golden Globe.

Personal life

After his first marriage in 1994, John was very disappointed in the marriage as such, he even called it a "wild thing."

Therefore, for a very long time he was alone until he met Justin Morer. They got married in 2003. John turned out to be a good husband and father, now the couple are raising two children: Lucas and Allegra. Their family has not lived in a criminal area for a long time - their home is in Manhattan.
