Step 1
Refer to the archived data of the electronic storage of information "Memorial". To do this, go to the website https://www.obd-memorial.ru. There you can find information gathered from combat casualty reports, obtained from reports from military hospitals and other reliable sources. The main goal of this Internet project is precisely to help modern residents of Russia to collect complete information about their loved ones, those killed and missing in the war
Step 2
Open the menu and select the item "Search by generalized databank". In the field, enter the last name, first name and patronymic of the person you need. Then click the "search" button.
Step 3
Look at the list of names that opens in front of you. Next to them will be indicated the dates and places of birth, as well as the time of "departure" from the ranks of the troops. Click on the required line, and a page with more detailed information will open in front of you.
Step 4
View information about the date and place of call, military rank and last place of service of the soldier you need. If you click on the link located in the field "Sources of factual information", then you will see the document on the basis of which the data was entered into the database. In these reports, you can find information about the time of the death of the soldier and the place of his burial.
Step 5
If you don't find the person you want in the database, try doing your own search. Summarize all the information that you know about the missing soldier: name, when and where he was called from, in what kind of troops he served. You can find out with the help of old photographs, memories of relatives, letters from the front. Contact the regional library and ask for the Book of Memory - this multivolume publication contains information about the fallen soldiers called up from your region. The largest Russian database of dead soldiers is located in Moscow, in a museum on Poklonnaya Gora. Also, make a request to the Central Archives of the Ministry of Defense and the archives of the city from which the missing soldier was called. Do not lose hope, keep searching, and your actions will not be unsuccessful.
