Debate is a kind of controversy, discussion. Their main feature is that they take place in public, and the parties are not so much trying to prove their case to each other as playing to the public. They have long been an integral part of politics. Not a single election campaign can do without them, especially when it comes to applicants for high government positions. With their help, you can strengthen your position, increase your rating, or, on the contrary, you can lose your supporters.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, each participant must remember well the main rule: in no case should you look confused, embarrassed, doubting. The audience should get a solid impression: this candidate is a tough nut to crack. He knows what he is talking about, he knows how to defend his position, you cannot take him with your bare hands.
Step 2
You also can't lose your composure, raise your voice, and even more resort to abuse or threats. Yes, all means are good in the fight, so be prepared in advance for the fact that the opponent or his supporters may sound unfounded claims to you, unconstructive criticism, on the verge of insult, even false accusations. The first and natural human reaction is to fight back hard. But hold back, do not fall for provocation. After all, this is exactly what your opponent wants from you. He wants the audience (potential voters) to get the impression that you are unrestrained, easily lose your temper, and take criticism painfully.
Step 3
Remain calm and refute what your opponents say. Demonstrate convincingly that they are deceitful. By doing this, you will achieve a double benefit - and demonstrate self-control, and expose your opponent in a very disadvantageous way.
Step 4
Go to the debate well prepared. Try to think in advance about what your opponent might be talking about, what arguments to put forward, what sore points to focus on. Pick up more statistical material, try to remember it well. Accordingly, think about what you will talk about. Of course, in no case try to talk about what you are poorly versed in.
Step 5
Pay special attention to the culture of speech. It must be flawlessly competent, clear, and at the same time understandable. Do not try to pronounce a lot of specific terms, difficult words that may seem abstruse to parts of the audience. Don't use parasitic words. If a participant in a debate continually pulls: "Well-oo-oo …", "Uh-uh …", "So …", you can immediately put an end to his prospects. Your speech should attract supporters, not scare them away.
