According to the apt definition of Karl von Clausewitz, war is the continuation of politics with the help of cannons. Historical experience shows that great military leaders were successful in political activities. In our time, you can remember some US presidents who reached high ranks in the military. The recent history of Russia also has similar precedents. First Vice President of the Russian Federation Alexander Vladimirovich Rutskoi rose to the rank of general.
Way to heaven
Most of the boys who grew up in the Soviet Union dreamed of becoming pilots or sailors. Among them was Alexander Rutskoi. The biography of the future general took shape in the traditional sequence. The child was born on September 16, 1947 in the family of a military man. The father, a colonel of such troops, a war veteran who reached Berlin, raised his son like an army. They did not shout at the boy, did not flog him with a belt. Alexander was taught from an early age to work, accuracy and discipline.
After the eighth grade, in 1964, being an independent teenager, he went to work as a locksmith. Rutskoi was admitted to an aircraft repair plant. Simultaneously with his labor activity, he was engaged in the flying club. The young man watched the pilots and aircraft maintenance specialists live. Alexander did not hide his love for airplanes. When he was drafted into the army, he asked to join the aviation. His place of service was the city of Kansk in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, where the school of radio gunners was stationed.
A year later, he submitted a report to the authority and received a referral to the famous Barnaul Military Pilot School. Higher military education opened the way to aviation for Rutskoi. In 1971, the newly made lieutenant arrived for further service as an instructor at the Valery Chkalov Aviation School. This was followed by an appointment to the group of Soviet troops, which was located on the territory of the GDR.
Political trajectory
The military career of Alexander Rutskoy developed consistently and gradually. In 1985, as an experienced pilot, he was sent to Afghanistan. In the war zone, Alexander Vladimirovich demonstrates examples of flying skills and personal courage. His plane is shot down twice. For this, the Mujahideen use the latest weapons from the United States. During the hostilities, Rutskoi was seriously wounded, but after treatment he returned to duty. For his participation in the Afghan campaign, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
After the collapse of the state, the combat pilot is trying to find his place in the political field. And soon he finds it. Alexander Rutskoy is elected vice-president of Russia. It should be noted that he did not work in this position for long. In 1993, tragic events took place in the Supreme Soviet of the Russian Federation, and Rutskoi miraculously survived. A few years later, when the situation in the country stabilized, Alexander Vladimirovich was elected governor of the Kursk region.
Rutskoi's personal life took shape in several stages. The combat general entered into legal marriage three times. In total, he has four children. It is important to note that he helps each of them whenever possible. She regularly communicates with her grandchildren. The acting wife is always there.
