What is an armud glass?

The word "armuda" in translation from Farsi means "pear-shaped". The glasses of the armud are really pear-shaped, rounded at the bottom, narrowed in the middle, expanding again from above. It has been noticed that these glasses resemble a female figure in their shape.

Every family in the East has at least one tea set, which includes a samovar, a teapot and armud glasses. They can be made of porcelain or earthenware, or silver, crystal, glass.

Recently, in the souvenir shops of the East, you can see sets of armud glasses, to which a handle is attached. Apparently, to make it more convenient to use glasses for unusual Europeans, who usually hold a cup of tea by the handle.

The main secrets of the glass of Armud

A special feature of the Armuda glass is that its extended lower part does not allow the hot drink to cool quickly. The expansion of the glass at the top allows your hands not to burn yourself on the hot drink, since the tea cools here faster than at the bottom.

The capacity of the glasses is no more than 100 ml, so the tea in them always remains freshly brewed and fragrant.

To the top, tea is not poured into such glasses, leaving an untouched "rim" at the top, which is often decorated with painting. This is the so-called "lip spot". This is the special specificity of the use of oriental armud glasses in tea drinking.
