He broke the record of Mikhail Koklyaev in 417 kg with his achievement. Two more records were set in 2017 in the sum of the double event and in the deadlift up to 100 kg.
Searching for a vocation
The biography of the future athlete began in 1990. The boy was born with his twin sister Yulia in the Tymovskoye urban-type settlement in the Khabarovsk Territory on December 5. The family already had one child, their older sister Inna.
Younger children have always been extremely active. Both were fond of sports. Neither kept up with the other. Yuri has always achieved excellent results in all disciplines. In the competitions in the playing forces of sports and athletics, he certainly participated. My father was engaged in skiing. After his death, my mother remarried. The stepfather also contributed to Yuri's choice of the sport.
From eleven, the boy thought about strength training. At the age of 13, a teenager who attended the volleyball section found himself in a "rocking chair" for the first time. Coach Vladimir Bakula immediately noticed the makings of a champion in Yuri. Several months passed, and the newcomer was offered to take part in the competition. However, a couple of weeks before they started, Belkin was injured. He went as a spectator. He made his debut as a member a year later.
After graduating from school, the graduate decided to get an education. For 9 years, Yuri attended art school. He decided to pursue an education in design and architecture. In the year of study at the University of Khabarovsk, the student did not stop training. The beginner instantly mastered the barbell, entered the PNU national team, became a candidate for master of sports. Boleslav Shchetina became the new mentor of the novice athlete.
First achievements
Preparations for the 2011 Country Cup have begun. For his first domestic Russian competition, Belkin went to St. Petersburg. He took second place, showing excellent development dynamics. A year later, the master of sports received silver at the world championship, only slightly behind the triumphant. Yuri was not going to lose to anyone else. His first dream became his goal.
In the junior category, he has broken many world records. Now it is the turn of absolute achievements. In 2013, at the competition in Suzdal, Yuri won the maximum number of gold medals and set five world records.
After the second place in the national championship, setting a new record again, Yuri entered the national team as a participant. The athlete went to the European Championship in Bulgaria. From there, Yuri brought gold. In South Africa, the triumphant competed in the classic form of powerlifting, where he became the strongest in the world among men.
At the WPRF PRO CUP competitions held in the capital, Belkin again proved his right to be called the strongest on the planet. All previously existing records cannot resist the pressure of the strongman. Without effort and equipment, the athlete pulls 440 kg, which is confirmed by the results of the training.
Good luck and trouble
The athlete himself plans to defeat Eddie Hall. Preparations for overthrowing him from the place of the champion were interrupted by the news of Belkin's disqualification. Yuri himself assures that he does not take steroids.
The cause of the conflict was a misunderstanding. According to information received from the Anti-Doping Disciplinary Committee, the Russian Powerlifting Federation decided to disqualify the champion from June 8, 2015 for 4 years.
Belkin was unable to compete in the classic powerlifting tournament in the Finnish Salo. As a result of the doping control carried out before the departure, traces of a prohibited drug were found in the athlete's blood. Belkin explained that he was prescribed Tamoxifen by the doctors as a necessary remedy. Belkin had no fears that the drug might be on the banned list.
The streak of failures was continued by the pains appearing in the back, breaking of the already established technique, deterioration of the results. In addition, the strongman left Khabarovsk without a coach. I had to work myself. Yuri took up technology and the return of his own achievements. At that time, there was no question of returning to the FPR, but Yuri does not plan to refuse to resume his sports career. 2019 became triumphant. At the Boss of Bosses VI tournament in California, Belkin set a new record,
Time present
Sport helped Belkin to improve his personal life. At the IPF European Championship among juniors, held in St. Petersburg, a meeting was held with the athlete's chosen one Alisa Bystrova. Both attended the competition as spectators. A mutual friend introduced them to each other. Sympathy grew into a romantic relationship.
Young people train together. The girl completely entrusted her training to a more experienced mentor, Yuri. They are proud of each other, the overall results and achievements. In 2019, Alice and Yuri officially became husband and wife.
In addition to coaching, strongman is involved in organizing and conducting master classes. On March 16, the meeting took place at the Leader Sport fitness club. Events are also held in an online format.
A separate issue Belkin calls sports nutrition, about which he is ready to write a book. He believes that excessive amounts of protein are contraindicated in powerlifters. Belkin is well aware of all the intricacies of food intake. However, due to the busy schedule, I have to violate the regulations. Intuition helps him to organize the process correctly.
The athlete runs a channel on YouTube. Strongman talks about the technique of performing exercises, the rules of organizing preparation for the competition.
