Bon Scott is a 70s heavy metal rock star and the main vocalist of the Australian rock band AC / DC. He gave all the best on stage. The musician's unique timbre of vocals crystallized as a result of the influence of two factors: surgery after a motorcycle accident and a long systematic grinding of the throat with undiluted gin.
Bon Scott biography
Childhood and adolescence of the future rock musician
Bon Scott, full name Ronald Belford Scott, was born on July 9, 1946 in Forfar in the east of Scotland. Father is a hereditary baker and amateur piper. As a child, the family of the future musician changed many places of residence. First, the city of Kirrimyur in Scotland, then in 1952, in search of a better life, along with the post-war flow of emigrants from Great Britain, the family moved to the southern mainland, to places founded by British settlers. The first country where the British flee is the fifth continent - Australia. In the 50s, the cities of Australia flourished, everywhere you could hear: “Come to us, everything is fine here! Young Australians, neat little houses with gardens, modern comfortable cities, honest work and legal rest. The Scott family stayed in the beautiful Victorian city of Melbourne with beautiful pre-modern buildings. After 4 years, they moved again to a quiet and calm city - the port of Fremantle, located at the mouth of the Swan River (Western Australia).
Bon had an interest in music as a child. In this city, Bon Scott learned to play drums and bagpipes with the local orchestra, in which his father played. Until the age of 10, the boy was obedient and submissive. As a teenager, Bon Scott began to change not for the better. The leadership of the school where Bon studied was forced to say goodbye to the young man for various behavioral disorders. At the age of 15, he was under police surveillance, escaped, gave false names and addresses, harassment, theft. Scott was taken to the reception center at Fremantle Prison on more than one occasion, and he also spent 9 months in a juvenile institution.
Musical career
At the age of 17, Bon Scott, at the request of his father, worked in his bakery, selling hot buns. During this time he began singing and banging drums in the amateur blues band Spectors. Scott served for a time in the Australian military, but was fired due to poor social integration.
At the age of 21, Scott became one of the lead vocalists of the Valentina group. The song "Every Day I Have To Cry" - hit the top five of the local charts. Bon was then arrested for possession of marijuana for 3 months. After leaving prison, the musician moved to Adelaide, where he joined the blues-rock band Freyternit. The collective thundered musical success and she moved to the largest and oldest city in Australia - Sydney. New albums "Lovestock" and "Flamin Galach" were recorded there. When Bon Scott was 25 years old, the group successfully toured Europe.
In 1973, after returning from a tour of England, Scott had a motorcycle accident and lay in a coma for 18 days, one testicle was removed on the operating table. In the meantime, the Freyternit group disbanded.
Bon Scott and AC / DC
In 1974, after recovering, Bon began to earn money as a driver for aspiring rockers - AC / DC. One day, guitarist Angus Young accidentally overheard their driver bawling a song. A week later, Scott sang it in the studio. Scott loved the band's energy and drive, and the young members of AC / DC were in turn mesmerized by the experienced Scott. The guy was standing - tattoos, a slightly damaged jaw, an earring in the form of a shark tooth. The hooligan style of life came to the liking of the group, Bon Scott was recognized as one of their own. Together with Angus Young, 9 years younger, they found a common language perfectly, discussing arrangements of new heavy compositions. At the helm of AC / DC, Scott has proven himself, by some estimates, as the most charismatic vocalist Australia has ever seen. His courageous and at the same time charming image attracted the attention of the audience, both girls and boys.
In 1975, the band recorded their debut LP, High Voltage. Scott has co-written the songs It's a Long Way to the Top, T. N. T., High Voltage, Highway to Hell and others.
In 1976, on the first tour of AC / DC in England, the audience was waiting for a deadly alcoholic circus number: swinging on a trapeze, Scott was catching Young's flailing solo in his arms, while both were completely drunk. They could swear on the air, smash their lips on the microphone in blood, perform in the outfit of a gorilla. AC / DC never left the pages of the gossip.

On February 19, 1980, Bon Scott and his friend Alistair Kinnear rested in one of the bars in London. Having got drunk well, we drove home by car, where the famous musician fell asleep. A friend did not wake him up, left him in the car. And in the morning he found him dead. At the hospital, doctors pronounced death due to negligence. Bon's autopsy on February 22 revealed that half a bottle of whiskey remained in his stomach. As it turned out later, Bon Scott had liver problems, and the frontman did not listen to the doctor's recommendations.
