Where does such charisma come from? Glenn himself says that the Indian and Irish ancestors who were in his family are to blame.

Biography

Scott Glenn was born in 1941 in Pittsburgh. His father was a businessman, and his mother, as was customary in American families, was a housewife. The family had three sons, and Scott's childhood was fun.

Once the boy was given a terrible diagnosis that could lead to lifelong lameness. At this moment, Scott's strong character manifested itself: along with the treatment, he was engaged in self-hypnosis and finally defeated the disease - he became an ordinary teenager, agile and athletic.

After graduation, Glenn began a long journey to the profession of an actor. He first took up seriously studying English in college, and then went to serve as a Marine and served all three years.

His further work was associated with the evening newspaper, where he was a reporter. However, despite his good knowledge of the language, Glenn understood that something more was needed for a journalist. And he did not think of anything else how to enroll in acting classes.

Random choice suddenly became a matter of life - Scott realized that this is what he wants to do seriously. Therefore, in 1965, he entered the New York Drama School.

He began participating in student performances, performing in experimental theater, and also appeared on stage on Broadway.

Actor's career

It cannot be said that further in the fate of Scott everything went smoothly. After he started working at The Actors Studio and starring in television projects, he did not have large roles. This did not suit the ambitious young man, and he moved to Los Angeles. However, even here he did not find acting happiness: the roles were small, there were no significant projects. Then the actor makes a difficult decision: he leaves Hollywood and moves with his whole family to the town of Kechum in Idaho and starts a completely new life.

He sometimes still appeared on the stage of the theater in Seattle, but his main work was different professions: bartender, forester, hunter.

And when, in 1980, director James Bridge offered him the role of Wes Hightower in Urban Cowboy, Glenn had no idea that he would become a star after the film. Many viewers were surprised to see him in the role of an inveterate criminal. He played the cruel, cold-blooded killer so believably that one could seriously worry about the hero John Travolta, who played the main role in the tape. This film is still watched with pleasure by viewers who love to feel the spirit of the eighties of the last century.

The next significant role of Scott - the role of an astronaut in the film "The Right Boys" (1982). He played a member of a team of astronauts who had to complete a difficult mission in space. The authors of the film through the characters showed not only the problems of difficult choices in an unforeseen situation, but also the personal problems of astronauts: relationships with families and with each other. And each of the actors can be considered the main character, because each made a significant contribution to the fact that the film has eight Oscar nominations, and won four.

The peak of Scott Glenn's fame came in the nineties: the films The Hunt for Red October, The Silence of the Lambs, The Night of the Running Man, The Reckless and others were released. Each of these films has been nominated for various prestigious awards.

One of the most famous films of this period is The Silence of the Lambs. This is evidenced by the awards of the most prestigious competitions, as well as seven Oscar nominations, in five of which he won. This film has become a cult, it is known all over the world and is still being reviewed by fans of psychological thrillers. Glenn played the role of Jack Crawford in this film, showing another facet of his talent.

The film tells about the work of the Los Angeles police, about the corruption of the system and the struggle for the cleanliness of the police ranks.
