Yyvan Kyrlya is a Soviet actor and poet of Mari origin. He became popular after his role in the movie "Start to Life". The peak of his acting career came in the 30s. He not only acted in films, but also appeared on the stage.

Biography: early years

Yyvan Kyrlya, nee Kirill Ivanovich Ivanov, was born on March 17, 1909 in the village of Kupsola, in the Republic of Mari El. My father was on the Committee of the Poor, was a very active member. For this he paid with his life. Local fists killed him brutally. The mother raised three children single-handedly. In order to somehow make her life easier, Yyvan started working early. He was a shepherd and farm laborer for wealthy fellow villagers, and also often asked for alms in the city.

Despite the hardships of life, he managed to graduate from the first stage in his native village. To continue his studies, Kyrlya left for the neighboring village of Sernur. At the age of 17 he was sent on a voucher to study at Kazan University.

As a student, Yivan became an active participant in an amateur circle. He soon became interested in poetry. So, Yyvan thoroughly studied the work of Sergei Yesenin, Alexander Zharov, Vladimir Mayakovsky.

Kyrlya did not miss a single university creative evening. The teachers drew attention to his skill in reincarnation on stage and sent him to the acting department of the State College of Cinematography.

Career

In 1929, the director Nikolai Ekk began filming the first Soviet sound film "A Way to Life", in the center of the plot of which were street children. Yyvan was among the students of the acting department invited to participate in the crowd scene. The director immediately drew attention to him. So Kyrlya got the role of Mustafa, the leader of the street children.

The shooting went on for almost two years. The picture was released on Soviet screens in 1931. She was a success with the audience, and some phrases of the hero Kyrly became winged, among them the famous: "Sleight of hand and no fraud." Having the experience of vagrancy, Yivan perfectly got used to the role of a street child.

After the technical school Kyrlya began to work at the Vostokfilm film studio. Over the course of two years, he starred in several films, including "The Buddha's Vicar". At the same time, he decided to take a pseudonym for himself. “Yyvan Kyrlya” in translation from the Mari means “Cyril, son of Ivan”.

In 1937 he moved to Yoshkar-Ola, where he was accepted into the troupe of the Mari Drama Theater. Kyrlya was involved in a number of performances. Among them are "Lyubov Yarovaya" and "Dubrovsky".

In parallel with work on the stage, Kyrlya composed poetry. His works of poetry were published in the newspaper "Mariy Yal". Yyvan also published three collections of poems in the Mari language. In 1937 he was admitted to the Writers' Union of the USSR.

Personal life

There is no information about the wife and children of Yyvan Kyrli. Little is known about his last years of life. According to some sources, he died in the war. And according to others - in one of the Ural camps for political prisoners. It is known that this happened in 1943.

In 2009, a monument to Kyrle appeared in Yoshkar-Ola. It is located near the city's railway station. Also one of the Yoshkar-Ola streets bears his name.
