Biography: early years

Radu Sirbu was born on December 14, 1978 in the village of Peresechino, in the Orhei region of Moldova. He spent his early childhood there. When Radu was 15 years old, the family moved from Peresecino to the city of Balti. After finishing the ninth grade, Radu returned to his native village, where he continued his studies at school.

Around the same period, he first picked up a guitar and became interested in music. At that time, he often sang with friends and relatives. It gave him confidence in himself. He also tried to compose. Sirbu was an admirer of Viktor Tsoi's talent; he enjoyed listening to the music of the Kino group. His first compositions were associated with the songs of this group.

In the tenth grade, Sirbu tried himself as a DJ at a disco organized by his parents. They later opened a creative studio for children and adolescents called Artshow. Radu disappeared there all day long. He put on a variety of musical performances. In the same place, Radu tried on the role of a director, sound engineer and soloist.

After graduating from school, Sirbu became a student at the Music Conservatory in Chisinau. He passed the entrance tests without any problems and began to study at the faculty of "Vocal art and musical pedagogy". His specialization was academic singing.

He combined his studies at the conservatory with performances in his own group, which played rock. He put it together from the guys who lived in his native Peresechino. Radu also worked as a vocal teacher in the creative studio of his parents. …

Career and creativity

In 2001, the then little-known Dan Balan organized a selection competition in order to recruit new members for his team. Sirbu decided to take part in it. His vocals and demeanor on stage immediately attracted Balan. So Sirbu became the second soloist of the renewed group O-Zone, which will soon become popular not only in Moldova, but also far beyond its borders. Later they were joined by the third participant - Arseniy Todirash.

The guys decided to conquer neighboring Romania. The entire team moved to Bucharest. Soon the guys were overwhelmed by frenzied popularity. The songs of the group were known and loved in many countries of the world, including in Russia. Her hit Dragostea din tei with an unpretentious chorus quickly began to sound from "every iron" and for a long time held the top positions of the world charts. In an interview, Sirbu recalled that they could not get enough sleep, because the performances in different cities went one after another. The guys slept on planes during the flights.

In 2005, O-Zone's albums were recognized as one of the best-selling albums. Despite this, the group suddenly broke up. The official version of the breakup of the group was the desire of all members to develop solo. According to rumors, this happened due to the greed of the creator of the team - Dan Balan. Once he told the guys that it was wrong to divide the money equally, because he writes songs and moves the project. This means that he should take more. After that, conflicts and misunderstandings began in the team.

For the sake of money, Balan was ready to close a successful project that had been actively touring for four years. Subsequently, he did this. According to Radu, that situation became an important life experience for him.

After the collapse of O-Zone, Sirbu founded the MR & MS group. His wife Anna also took part in this project, who took on the creative pseudonym Sianna. She acted as a co-author. The compositions of his new band were different from what he sang in O-Zone. They were enriched with elements of rock, electro and R'N'B. Boyish mischief has gone from Radu's creativity, as it was during the O-Zone period. This was reflected in his appearance. T-shirts with strange colors have been replaced by classic outfits. He also stopped bleaching his hair.

Later, Radu went headlong into producing and created the Rassada Music label. He was engaged in the promotion of the record of his longtime friend, singer Mahai. The guys recorded joint songs, including Dulce and Pop.

Sirbu also performed solo. In 2006 he presented his solo album Alone. It contained compositions both in native Moldovan and in English and Russian.

Recently, Sirbu does not sing himself, but composes songs for Russian performers. So, he wrote several compositions for the group "Roots".
