Childhood and youth

Throughout the history of mankind, men have been the defenders of their home, settlement, and their country. Most of the boys still dream of becoming tankmen, sailors or pilots. In childhood, Sergei Vladimirovich Dronov did not stand out in any way the children with whom he grew up and was brought up on the street. With his mother's milk, he absorbed the rules of behavior in difficult life situations. One of the basic rules of behavior for him was the popular proverb - die yourself, and help your comrade. And in his official activities and personal relationships, he never violated this principle.

The future general of the Russian Military Space Forces was born on August 11, 1962 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents lived in the village of Almazovka, Voroshilovgrad region. My father worked as a drifter in one of the coal mines. Mother worked as a kindergarten teacher. At school, Sergei studied well. In all subjects he had only good and excellent grades. In his free time from school and household chores, he was involved in athletics and football. When the time came to choose a profession, Dronov decided to get a specialized education at the Yeisk Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots.

Sergey liked the educational process. He effortlessly mastered the theoretical foundations of aerodynamics. He was well versed in the design of aircraft. In the second year, in the fall of 1981, Dronov performed a training flight, practicing piloting techniques. The weather was sunny and the cadet did not expect any complications or failures. At an altitude of 1200 meters, a bird accidentally got into the air intake. The engine stalled. The pilot reported the incident to the flight director. There was a command to start the engine forcibly. However, the result was zero. Meanwhile, the plane began to lose altitude.

If the pilot ejected, the plane could fall within the settlement. Dronov, having soberly assessed the situation, decided to put the car with retracted chassis on a mown field outside the city. Demonstrating high piloting technique, the cadet safely landed the plane “on its belly”. A mown wheat field served as a landing site. Similar precedents have happened before. In such situations, even experienced pilots could not cope with control and died. For his courage and endurance, cadet Sergei Dronov was awarded the Order of the Red Star. Military school cadets are rarely awarded military orders.
