In the seventies, the aspiring actor founded the "Last Chance" ensemble, distinguished by their innovative creativity. The compositions performed by the group amazed with humor, kindness and amazing clarity. The ensemble quickly gained popularity. The guys were invited to television, they participated in children's programs. "Learning with enthusiasm", "KOAPP", "ABVGDeyka", "Lukomorye".
The collective took part in recordings of radio shows and starred in films. Shchukin played in the films "Skomorokhi", "He", "Comet", participated in television programs.
Despite his intense activity, the musician did not stop writing songs. He always believed that his calling was to be a composer. He used both his own and others' texts. In his repertoire there is a magnificent cycle on the poems of the poets of the "Silver Age", songs for children. The author calls the performance secondary.

His disc “Songs on the Poems of the Silver Age Poets”, released in 2009, uses the works of poets of both the “Silver” and “Golden” Ages. The author penetratingly and masterfully conveys to the audience the grandeur and beauty of classical Russian poetry.
The Encyclopedia of the Author's Song includes his work on Yesenin's poems "Kaliki", the composition "Red Brush" to the words of Marina Tsvetaeva was included in the top hundred romances.
