Biography
Frederic Beigbeder was born in 1965 in a town near Paris. His mother worked as a translator of women's novels from English into French, his father was engaged in recruiting.
Studied at Lycée Montaigne, a famous French public higher school. After he entered Louis-le-Grand, one of the most prestigious schools in Paris. After graduation, he entered the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, an influential institution of higher education teaching social sciences.
Career
After graduation, at the age of 24, he began working as a sales writer for Young & Rubicam. He worked as a copywriter for over ten years, combining the advertising business with writing novels.
In 1990, Beigbeder's first novel, Memoirs of an Unreasonable Young Man, was published. The book is filled with subtle humor, many scenes are written with mocking self-criticism.
The author's next novel, Vacation in a Coma, was published in 1994.
In 1994, Beigbeder founded the Prix de Flore Foundation, whose main task is to help talented young authors.
In 1997, the novel "Love Lives for Three Years" was published. The novel is devoted to the physiological side of lofty feelings. Love is caused by hormones, when they return to their previous level, feelings are extinguished, often causing painful experiences of lovers. In 2011, the book was screened, the author became the director of the film.
In 1999, the provocative novel "Tales under Ecstasy" was published. This is a collection of small, everyday stories describing the author's life after using drugs. The begger takes pride in this way of life, rejoicing in the growing inspiration after taking ecstasy.
In 2000, he released 99 Francs, a tough satirical novella that pokes fun at the advertising business. The book became a bestseller in France. In 2007, a movie was shot based on the theme of this work, where the author also acted as an actor.
In 2001, a collection of essays was published, entitled “The best books of the XX century. Last Inventory Before Sale”, a satirical retelling of 50 popular books.
In 2009, the book "French Novel" is published, an autobiographical work in which the hero-author is detained by the police for using cocaine, in conclusion he plans to write a book and tries to recall childhood memories.
Personal life
Beigbeder often said that most of his works are autobiographical, but in life he is not so crazy, sometimes even too normal.
In 2015, he married Lara Micelli while in the Bahamas. The couple is raising a daughter.
