David Foster is a Canadian musician, composer, arranger, winner of 16 Grammy awards. One of the most successful producers in the history of pop music. He has worked with many stars, including Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Madonna, Andrea Bocelli, Toni Braxton, Chicago.
In 2013, Foster received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It is located on Vine Street in front of the iconic Capitol Records building. Nearby are the stars of his idols: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison.
Biography facts
David was born in the Canadian city of Victoria in the fall of 1949 into a large family. His father was a worker in a car repair company, and his mother was engaged in housekeeping and raising children.
In his autobiographical book Hitman, the musician told a story that once his mother was dusting the piano and accidentally hit one of the keys. Upon hearing the sound, the boy accurately named the note, discovering that he had perfect pitch.
Foster's career began at the age of 4. For a long time he persuaded his parents to send him to a music school, in the end they agreed. David began attending piano lessons and soon achieved great success, becoming one of the best students.
He received his primary education, the young man continued to study music. He became a member of a special music training program at the University of Washington, and then began performing on stage.
A few years later, Foster joined the group accompanying the famous Charles Berry. After that, he began playing in the band The Strangers and went on tour to England. Back in Canada, David worked with R. Hawkins, and then performed with the Skylark group.
Creative way
When the Skylark group ceased to exist, Foster departed from Los Angeles. There he assembled a new collective called Airplay, which quickly gained popularity among the public.
During this period, Foster did not limit himself to playing only in his own team. He was often invited to perform by such famous musicians as J. Lennon, Michael Jackson, J. Harrison, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand.
The next stage in Foster's creative biography was producing. He has worked with several well-known bands and performers, including L. Ritchie and the Chicago group. Their albums earned David the Music Grammy Awards.

Personal life
Foster has been married several times. The first chosen one was BJ Cook. The marriage took place in 1972, and a year later the couple had a daughter, Amy Susan.
Rebecca Dyer became the second wife. The couple lived together for 4 years, but eventually broke up. In this union, 3 children were born: Sarah, Erin and Jordan.
In 1991, Foster became the husband of actress Linda Thompson. The couple broke up in 2005.
After 2 years, David remarried. His new lover was named Yolanda Hadid. The marriage lasted 10 years and ended in divorce in 2017.
Almost immediately after the divorce, Foster began dating actress Katharine McPhee. In 2018, David made Catherine an official marriage proposal.
