Biography: early years
Nikolai Stanislavovich Gryazin was born on October 7, 1997 in Moscow. He is the youngest son of the famous racer Stanislav Gryazin, who at one time was considered the best in Russia. Has an older brother Vasily, he also followed in the footsteps of his father.
Nikolay got into motorsport at the age of 11. Initially, he was engaged in circuit racing. His father repeatedly took him to the rally, but then Nikolai did not see anything interesting in this sport. Meanwhile, he showed good results in amateur karting competitions.
For the first time, Gryazin sat behind the wheel of a racing car at the age of 15. After the first lap, Nikolay got the idea to try himself in the rally. His first mentor was Boris Shulmeister, a famous Russian race car driver.
The following year Nikolay successfully started in the Russian Circuit Racing Series. He performed in Lada Kalina. These competitions became for him like an entrance test for subsequent participation in more prestigious tournaments. In the autumn of the same year, Gryazin, in a duet with his mentor, successfully completed a number of races on the ring in the Lada Cup.
Career
In 2014, Nikolai already gave odds to eminent race car drivers, among whom were Andrey Sevostyanov and Vladimir Cherevan. In the same year, he took part in the Touring Light ring tournament. His former mentor Boris Shulmeister also spoke in it. According to the results of the races, Nikolay became the winner. However, the results were canceled at the request of opponents, who repeatedly complained about Gryazin's aggressive piloting. The judges reviewed the results and found violations in the actions of the Peugeot team, which included Nikolay. As a result, the victory went to Schulmeister, and Gryazin was content with the second place.
In 2015, Nikolai completely switched to rallying. A year later, he won the prestigious Petrol Nova Gorica tournament. Its navigator was Yaroslav Fedorov. The guys managed to break away from the nearest competitor for two minutes.
In 2017, the crew of Gryazin celebrated the victory in the absolute at Rally Liepāja. A year later, Nikolay became the second in the European Championship in the U28 class.
In 2019, Gryazin again finished first in the tournament in Nova Gorica. The racer became the fastest in 10 out of 13 stages and was one minute ahead of the closest rival.
