The 35th Moscow International Film Festival took place from June 20 to June 29, once again gathering around the Oktyabr cinema and other venues where films were shown, a large army of cinema fans.

According to Nikita Mikhalkov, chairman of the Moscow International Film Festival, more than 72 thousand people attended the show, which, in his opinion, testifies to the continuing interest in the Moscow International Film Festival.
Step 2
16 films from different countries took part in the main competition of the festival, retrospectives of Balabanov, Bertolucci, Ursula Mayer, Costa Gavras were shown in special programs.

The winner of the "Golden George" 35 MIFF, the main prize of the festival, was the picture of the Turkish director Erdem Tepegez "Particle". The award was predicted for the film of Konstantin Lopushansky "The Role", but he did not even get the prize for Best Actor, which also seemed to everyone indisputable.

Critics' favorites were Alien Memories by Lucia Murat (Brazil), which received the FIPRESCI Prize, and Matterhorn by Diederik Ebbinge (Holland), who also garnered an unprecedented number of votes and took with him the Audience Award.

Russian programs were completed by Kira Muratova's Eternal Return, a film all screenings of which were sold out. The festival itself ended with the painting "Rasputin" by Irakli Kvirikadze with Gerard Depardieu.

Despite the heat, the red carpet of the 35 MIFF closing ceremony was decorated with such Russian stars as Olesya Sudzilovskaya, Vlad Lisovets, Lyanka Gryu, Nadya Mikhalkova and Rezo Gigineishvili, Renata Litvinova, Olga Kabo and others.
