Costume designer Natalya Kanevskaya is known not only as the creator of the Natali Kanevski brand. The daughter of the film major Tomina and the granddaughter of the equally famous artist Shtepsel received recognition for her works in cinema and theater.
In the life of Natalia Leonidovna, creativity has always been present. Her grandfather was the well-known in the Soviet Union and popularly beloved comedian Efim Berezin, Shtepsel. The father of the talented designer was the no less famous Major Tomin, artist Leonid Kanevsky.
The path to the vocation
The biography of the future celebrity began in 1977. Information about the month and date of birth of the child is nowhere to be found. The girl was born in Moscow in the family of Anna Berezina and Leonid Kanevsky.
Mom had no relationship to the artistic world: she chose a philological education. However, the wife supported in all his endeavors and worked in the library of the theater, where her husband served.
Natalia never dreamed of an artistic career. She enjoyed visiting all her father's performances, often walking with him. The girl liked to watch her father signing autographs for fans right on the street.
Natasha herself was fond of drawing since childhood. A little later, she became interested in creating theatrical costumes. This hobby has grown into a lifelong business.
Life's work
In 1990, my father was invited to Israel. Director Yevgeny Arie suggested the actor to create a Russian-language theater "Gesher". Together with the head, the whole family changed their place of residence. In a new place, Natalia entered the University of Tel Aviv. She chose the design department with a degree in Scenography and Costumes.
The student won the award for Best Lighting Designer at the 1997 Akko Festival. In 2000 she was honored with a robe for Best Costumes at the Haifa Festival. Her scenery for Israel's Alternative Theater won a special prize in 2001.
In 2002, the training was completed. Natalia Leonidovna worked as the chief stylist at the Israel Plus TV channel, collaborated with the country's theaters.
Since 2007 Natalia Leonidovna has been working in Russia. She collaborates with the Moscow Pushkin Theater, on Malaya Bronnaya, the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater. In 2012, for the first time, as an artist, she participated in the work on the film "The Conductor" by Pavel Lungin.
New perspectives
In total, she participated in this capacity in 7 film projects. The last work was the telenovela "The Kept Women" in 2019. TV in the same period, Kanevskaya tried her hand as a composer. She wrote the music for the short film Euthanasia.
