Paranormal Activity is a low budget horror film. At first glance, it may seem that a horror tape, in which ten thousand dollars have not been invested, will not be able to surprise the viewer with anything - neither sensible computer graphics, nor high-quality special effects. However, "The Paranormal Activity" still won a huge audience.

Step 1
The budget for Paranormal Activity was only $ 15,000 - extremely small for a horror movie. However, the tape takes not perfectly drawn ghosts, rivers of blood, stuntmen's tricks or the interiors of abandoned castles, but, on the contrary, its proximity to reality. The action takes place in an ordinary house, just like millions of other houses around the world. And due to this, the impression is created that such an incident could happen to anyone.
Step 2
For the director, producer and screenwriter of the film Oren Peli, "The Paranormal Activity" became a film debut. Oren himself claims that the film was filmed based on real events - the history of the tape is based on contact with the other world, which happened to him. Oren, who moved into a new house and listened to extraneous sounds, came up with the idea to put video cameras in the rooms and thus calculate the source of the noise. He never installed the cameras, but it turned into an idea for the film.
Step 3
Three people worked on the film - Oren himself, his friend Amir and the girl Peli was dating at that time. The team hired two actors to play the main roles of Katie and Mika, three people to play the roles of minor characters, and a make-up artist - it turned out that none of the three friends knew how to handle makeup.
Step 4
Filming lasted only a week. They took place in the director's house, which allowed the team to significantly save money. There was no cameraman who worked on "Paranormal Activity", everyone had to shoot, including the leading actors - Katie and Mika.
Step 5
The low-budget, but so spectacular tape fell in love with the audience. The box office of the first film exceeded his budget by 13 thousand times. At the beginning of 2014, the next part of the franchise is released - "The Paranormal Activity: Mark of the Devil".
