Paintings from the period 1963-1980

A. Sitnikov began to create in the mid-70s. Images of people and animals emerged from under the brush. For some, they are simple, alarming and gloomy, do not cause optimism. For others, they are mischievous and hooligans, perceived as a protest, but with a hint of the existence of beauty. It was the spirit of that time that was invested in these works of Alexander. Later, bright colors appear in the paintings, mythology appears on the stage of life: red and white bulls. They are symbolic and run through many compositions.

In many of his paintings, Sitnikov seems to have a presentiment of the impending tragedy of Soviet times and prophesies a new future for the fate of Russia. And this gives him the courage to live in order to see, feel, write and present to the world something more beautiful and interesting.

Paintings from the period 1980-2000

The period of the late 1980s is filled with anxious expectation of change. Numbers are drawn in the paintings, geometry is indicated, unusual colors are added. A. Sitnikov knows how to amaze. His imagination is not limited to one method, style, writing technique. He often goes to different eras. Draws a parallel with ancient history and mythology. The artist has a special relationship with her. With the help of myths, he tries to tell about what is happening in that time and in the space in which he is at the time of the painting. A. Sitnikov's paintings bear some subtle hint of social events in the political, economic and social spheres.

A. Sitnikov looks into history with trepidation. He is worried about the fate of many people. A series of paintings "Concerto" is dedicated to Dmitry Shostakovich. The composer's work has withstood many tests. In the 50s he was accused of "groveling before the West" and stripped of all titles and awards. Shostakovich was little happy in his personal life. He went through several family tragedies. He died of a serious illness. Looking at the paintings dedicated to the composer, a sophisticated viewer can see a lot of interesting things.

Paintings from the period 2000-2019

With the onset of a new century, A. Sitnikov created a series of paintings "Native Speech". It collects all the artist's experience. He mixes many styles and methods, shows the connection between literature, philosophy and history. Some compositions take them back to the Soviet past, but immediately return them to reality. It uses a lot of pictogram symbols, numbers and shapes. Pictures again amaze and awaken imagination. Many works from this cycle flaunt next to the paintings of his wife and daughter.

This took place in 2012 in the gallery on Chistye Prudy, in the Museum and Creative Center "House of Korbakov" in Vologda, in 2015, 2018, 2020. - "KultProekt" …

Joint exhibitions, on the one hand, show the common attitude of the Sitnikov family. On the other hand, they emphasize the individuality and self-sufficiency of each.

In the work of the Sitnikov family, there is a deep respect for each other's work. This was beautifully noted by Alexander Yakimovich, an art critic, at an exhibition in 2012 in a gallery on Chistye Prudy. He gave creative compliments to Olga Bulgakova. I was surprised how she knows how to convey scary impressions, illuminating them with the light of biblical mythology. How intelligent and chivalrous the husband looks next to her. As a daughter, Natalya stands side by side with dignity and independently, in no way inferior in skill to either her mother or her father.
