Citizenship is a stable relationship between a person and a state. Becoming a subject of this or that country, you acquire your obligations to it (such as paying taxes, conscription, observance of laws) in exchange for the rights and freedoms provided, and social guarantees. To become a full member of the Russian state, it is necessary to go through a number of legal formalities.

Step 1

Live in Russia for at least five years in a row - this is the period for obtaining citizenship is established by paragraph "a" of the first part of Article 13 of the Federal Law "On Citizenship" of 2002-31-05. This rule also applies to stateless persons. Residence on the territory of the Russian Federation is considered continuous if during this period you left the country for no more than three months annually. The period of your residence in Russia is counted from the date of registration at the place of stay. Do not neglect the design of this document! - disabled persons who have capable children-citizens of the Russian Federation and are in their care;

- persons who have been married to a citizen of the Russian Federation for at least three years.

Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, who were citizens of the USSR and are now living in Russia, have the right to obtain citizenship in an exceptional manner - without observing the conditions of paragraphs "a", "c" and "e".
