Kevin Moore is known as a former keyboardist of Dream Theater, who managed to take part in the creation of the band's greatest hits. After leaving the group, he lost popularity, but still continued to make music: he performed with other groups, was engaged in a solo project, wrote soundtracks for films.
Kevin Moore as the first keyboardist of the American band Dream Theater, who is mistakenly considered by some publications to be representatives of progressive metal.
Biography
Kevin Moore is originally from Long Island. He was born on May 26, 1967. Kevin began learning to play the piano at the age of six, and wrote his first composition at the age of twelve.
The musician's personal life is shrouded in mystery, and the fans themselves are not used to climbing further than Kevin Moore's musical career.
Education
After graduation, Moore continued his studies at the State University of New York and Fredonia, where he continued to improve himself as a performer and study classical and academic music.
At the same time, Kevin was invited to the future Dream Theater by John Petrucci (then they were still performing under the name Majesty).
Feeling the taste of fame, Kevin Moore dropped out of university without even studying for a year. Was it worth it? Even the musician himself cannot answer this question in numerous interviews.
Dream Theater
In 1986, Majesty decided to change their name, and now the world knows them as Dream Theater. Three years later, their first album When Dream and Day Unite was released, but it did not bring popularity. The group remained at the level of garage bands, which only the friends and families of the musicians themselves knew about.
Everything changed only in 1992, when Images and Words came out. The band gained popularity only thanks to one composition Pull Me Under, which is still considered one of the most mainstream rock songs of our time.
Album Awake, released in 1994, became the most popular of those with Kevin Moore. After Awake, Moore decided to leave Dream Theater and start a solo career.
Further work and creativity
Kevin named his solo project Chroma Key, and the first album was released only in 1998 - four years after parting with Dream Theater. Throughout its existence, Chroma Key has released 3 albums and one single, but none of them brought Moore such popularity as his participation in Dream Theater. Kevin himself noted many times in interviews that if people know him, it is only as a former keyboardist of Dream Theater.
I would especially like to note the work of Kevin in the Office of Strategic Influence - Blood, released in 2009. Mikael Åkerfeldt (vocalist and rhythm guitarist of Opeth) was invited for this.
Also for some time Kevin Moore collaborated with other bands as a session musician. In 2004, he was involved in writing soundtracks for Turkish films, which few people in Europe know about.
