Colleagues noted how humble and at times reserved person was. And only on stage or on the set did he completely change - he became relaxed, completely reincarnated in the one he played. It was evident that every, even the most insignificant role, was the most important for him at the moment. It doesn't matter if he played a sailor or a soldier, a fireman or a builder, a policeman or a church choir singing.

Biography

Stepan Ivanovich Krylov comes from the Smolensk region: he was born in 1910 in the village of Gorodok. His parents were ordinary people: his father worked as a train driver on a steam locomotive, his mother looked after the house. As a child, Stepan was an inquisitive boy, he loved to study. However, I really wanted to go to Leningrad, so I finished only six classes in my native village and went to the northern capital.

In Leningrad, he worked as someone he had to: now a shoemaker, then a loader, then a worker at an oil factory. Probably looking for his place in life. Sometimes he again left for his village, but each time he returned back to the city.

When Stepan once again got a job in Leningrad at a tobacco factory, he was invited to the drama club. It was then that he realized that he wanted to become an artist - this was his occupation, his vocation, his work.

Despite the fact that education was not enough for admission to the theater technical school, Krylov submitted documents to the admissions office. Theatrical masters liked the boy with an unusual appearance, and he became a first-year student at the Leningrad Theater College.

A year later, Krylov began acting in films - he created the image of a worker in the film "The Counter" (1932). The experience of working in enterprises helped to get this role, which other applicants for the role did not have.

Work in cinematography

The most favorite pastime, bordering on passion, was cinema for Krylov. During his career, he created roles in one hundred and ten films - that's fifty-eight years of work in cinema! And also in his life there was a theater, and more than one: he managed to work as a theater actor even in Moscow.

They told funny things about him: sometimes at home they saw him in a strange pose or with a funny expression on his face that was not typical for him. This means that he is working on the next role, thinking through every nuance.

It is not surprising that by his work Krylov earned the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR, he was also awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor. He was awarded a high award for his role in the film "On the Border" (1938).
