Awards are an integral part of rewarding the military, law enforcement officials and civilians for special merit in the performance of military or other public service or in the performance of professional duties. The list of state awards in our country was approved by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation. When new awards appear, its statute is prescribed in the decree. The general principle of wearing orders and medals is as follows:

Step 1
Priority of state awards of the Russian Federation over awards of the USSR. On the tunic or jacket, first the awards of the Russian Federation and then the USSR are located. If there are awards from other states, then foreign orders, medals and insignia are located below the awards of the Russian Federation and the USSR.

All awards are worn according to their hierarchy:
The Gold Star medal is an additional insignia to the title of Hero of the USSR and the Russian Federation. It is worn on the left side of the chest above all other orders and medals. The badge of the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, 1st class, is worn on a ribbon over the right shoulder. The star of this order, I and II degrees, is located on the left side of the chest. to the left of the orders, below the order stocks, under the star of the Order of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called. The badge of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II and III degrees, is worn on the neck ribbon, and the badge of the IV degree is on the block on the left side of the chest in front of other orders and medals. Next comes the Order of Courage. Wear on the left side of the chest. The Order of Military Merit is also worn on the left side of the chest and, if there are other orders, is placed after the Order of Courage. Next are the Order of Honor, the Order of Friendship.
Servicemen are awarded a medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland with the image of swords. Placed on the left side of the chest after orders. Further, in the order of hierarchy, on the left side of the chest, it is appropriate to place the medal "For Courage", the medal "For the salvation of the dead", the Suvorov medal, the Ushakov medal, the Nesterov medal, the medal "For excellence in the protection of the state border"

If several insignia are worn, they are placed side by side and are located from the center to the left, while the lower part of the orders and medals should be on the same level. It is not customary to wear medals and orders on weekdays. The recipient is obliged to properly keep the insignia, take care of their safety. All awards and distinctions may not be sold, used for commercial or advertising purposes.
