According to independent experts, journalism is considered a dangerous profession. Over the past decades, dozens of correspondents have died in hot spots while doing their professional duty. Andrey Cherkasov is alive, but walks on a razor's edge.
Hereditary reporter
Family dynasties are formed in different spheres of human activity. Journalism is no exception. Andrei Sergeevich Cherkasov was born on April 23, 1972 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents lived at that time in Moscow. My father worked as an operator in the international information department of the Central Television. Mother taught mathematics at one of the higher educational institutions of the capital. In the late 80s he spent several years in Washington, together with his father, who was sent there on a business trip.
The child grew and developed like all the boys in the area. On the appointed time I went to school with in-depth study of the English language. Andrey's favorite subjects were history and geography. Having received a certificate of maturity, he entered the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University. A professional career with a graduate began at the famous radio station "Echo of Moscow". In 1994, Cherkasov completed an internship at the British BBC Television Studio.
At the center of events
Already in his student years, Cherkasov specialized as a reporter and editor of news streams. In the 90s, when the country's economy was moving to market mechanisms, ideology was canceled, the system of public education was rebuilt, news “poured in” as if from a cornucopia. The correspondent and editor had to carefully filter out the "information noise" and broadcast only reliable facts. Andrey successfully coped with the functions assigned to him. Not every colleague succeeded.
For almost seventeen years, Cherkasov worked in the NTV television company in various positions. He recorded author's reports for the Segodnya news program and the Segodnya analytical program. Andrei strove to see with his own eyes the events that took place in the hot spots of the planet. The film crew under his leadership was ready to fly to any country and to any continent at any time. For six years Cherkasov worked as his own correspondent in the UK.
Personal life plots
As part of his official duties, Andrei Sergeevich had to meet with high-ranking officials. He interviewed US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. I talked about the pressing problems of the country with Russian ministers. Has directed several documentaries. In the fall of 2015, he left for Prague and began to work at Radio Liberty.
The personal life of the journalist was successful. He is legally married. The husband and wife are raising two children. Over the past three years, the Cherkasov family has not visited Russia.
