Boris Vyacheslavovich Gryzlov appeared on the Russian political Olympus in the late 90s of the last century. His confident career rise began as part of the "Unity" movement, which supported independent deputies. Then he held the post of Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the chair of the speaker of the State Duma and was a member of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. Today, an experienced politician heads the Supreme Council of United Russia, and develops the further strategic line of the party.
Childhood and youth
The future famous politician was born in 1960 in Vladivostok. The ancestors of the Gryzlovs once lived in the Tula region, where a priestly grandfather taught children to read and write in a zemstvo school. The pilot's father fought at the front. Mother worked as a teacher. When Bora was four years old, his father received a new appointment, and the family moved to his place of service in Leningrad. The young man graduated from high school mediocre, but at the Institute of Communications he showed excellent academic performance and activity in the affairs of the Komsomol organization. Gryzlov remembered his student time by participating in the film "Sannikov's Land", where he performed a small episode. In 1973, a graduate of the university was educated as a radio engineer.
Activities
The first place of work of the young specialist was the Research Institute of Radio Engineering. An institution of the all-Russian level was engaged in research in the space field. The next stage in Gryzlov's career was the Electronpribor software. In 1977, Boris took the position of a leading engineer and over twenty years of service to the enterprise became the head of a large division that developed devices for defense and civilian purposes. Gryzlov joined the ranks of the Communist Party and headed the trade union committee of the enterprise. Like many compatriots, in the 90s he co-founded several commercial firms and took up entrepreneurship.
In parallel with his work at Electronpribor, Boris Vyacheslavovich became a teacher. He trained senior executives and collaborated with the Baltic Technical University.
Carier start
In 1998, Gryzlov nominated himself for the first time in the legislative assembly of the Northern capital and failed. After the defeat, he was offered to head the headquarters of the St. Petersburg movement "Unity".
The faction leadership paved the way for big politics. A year later, on the party list of "Unity" Boris Vyacheslavovich received the deputy mandate of the State Duma. In 2001, at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University, he defended his dissertation on the diversity of political parties in Russia, and after that he received a PhD in Political Science.
Minister without shoulder straps
A government decision soon followed, surprising many. For the first time in the country's history, a civilian, not a general, was appointed minister of the interior. It was Boris Gryzlov. The period of his leadership was marked by numerous revelations of "werewolves in uniform", dozens of fabricated cases and cases of bribery were revealed. In the first two months of his activity, the minister carried out a reform in the structure of the department, the traffic police returned the previous name. He proposed to open a school for the children of employees who died during the hostilities in the North Caucasus.
At the head of the State Duma
In 2002, Gryzlov joined the central council of United Russia. The movement won most of the seats in the parliament of the IV convocation, among the deputies was Boris Vyacheslavovich. To participate in legislative activities, he had to submit an application to the head of state to resign from the post of head of the police department. After that, he immediately became the head of United Russia. The faction's main tasks were to raise the standard of living, increase GDP and re-equip the Russian army. The State Duma deputies elected the politician by an absolute majority as the chairman of the parliament. In addition, Gryzlov became a member of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
In the 2007 parliamentary elections, the party won a landslide victory, Boris Vyacheslavovich retained the chair of the head of the State Duma. In the next presidential elections, Dmitry Medvedev was named the new head of state. Vladimir Putin became the leader of United Russia, and Gryzlov retained the leadership of the Supreme Council of the movement. In the State Duma of the VI convocation, Boris Vyacheslavovich withdrew his deputy mandate in order not to occupy the chair of the speaker for the third term in a row.
Inventor
In 2007, Gryzlov filed a patent for an invention that dealt with the purification of radioactive waste using nanotechnology. In the history of the Russian Academy of Sciences, it was a rare case when such a busy official in a high position was able to find time to design his own invention. The scientific work was carried out in collaboration with Victor Petrik.
Personal life
For many years Boris has been married to Aida Korner. He met the daughter of a Hero of the Soviet Union as a student, they were connected by studying at the same university. Today Aida Viktorovna heads one of the higher Russian educational institutions.
Two children were born in the marriage. The eldest son Dmitry received a law degree. He followed in his father's footsteps and is considered a promising political figure. In addition, he actively cooperates with television and hosts a program on one of the St. Petersburg channels. Daughter Eugene from an early age showed love for creativity, studied the art of cinema and television.
How he lives now
"United Russia" remains the leading political movement in the country, which was confirmed by the regular elections to the state parliament. This means that the course chosen by Boris Gryzlov, as the head of the Supreme Council of the party, has been chosen correctly. Taking into account the changes that have taken place in society and the establishment of anti-Russian sanctions, overcoming the crisis and settling relations with Western countries are named as the main tasks. In the last two years, Boris Vyacheslavovich has often visited Minsk. Sessions of the working group on Ukraine are being held in the Belarusian capital.
Gryzlov has little free time, but with great enthusiasm he devotes it to sports activities. The politician is fond of volleyball, basketball, plays football. The ex-speaker has ranks in several sports, including chess, tennis and shooting.
