Childhood and youth

The future president of the United States, the forty-sixth in a row, was born on November 20, 1942, into a Catholic family. Parents at that time lived in a small town in the state of Pennsylvania. The boy turned out to be the eldest of four children who were brought up in the house. Despite financial difficulties, the parents managed to give their children a decent education. Joe graduated with honors from public school and entered a local university. In 1965 he received his BA in History and Political Science. The talented student was awarded a state scholarship and continued his education at the University of New York.

In 1968, Biden received his Juris Doctor degree and took up legal practice. He worked for almost two years in a state law office. By the nature of his work, he had to defend and defend the rights of people from the poor. He was noticed and recruited to work at the local Democratic Party office. The start of the political career of a successful lawyer took place in 1970, when he was elected to the council of one of the counties of New York. At the heart of his program was a mechanism to support the poor and an increase in government subsidies for housing construction.

Political activity

In the fall of 1972, Joe Biden won the election and took over as Senator from Delaware. Contemporaries, recalling the events of those years, note that the novice politician had minimal chances of winning. He had to confront the representative of the Republican Party, James Boggs, who was called a money bag behind his back. Biden tried to use the available resources very thoughtfully and carefully. The election headquarters was headed by his own sister. Leaflets and booklets were printed on the cheapest newsprint. He relied on personal meetings with voters, at which he talked about his socially oriented program.

For eight years, Biden served as head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He knew how to find common ground and common interests with representatives of different states. At the invitation of the Soviet government, Joe Biden paid an official visit to the Soviet Union in 1979 and 1988. Negotiating experience allowed the senator to become vice president after Barack Obama won the presidential race in 2008.

For two terms, Biden worked in tandem with Obama. In 2016, they left the government, giving up their seats to Donald Trump and Mike Pence. But in the next presidential election in 2020, Biden ran and won. On January 21, 2021, he took the oath of office and entered the White House.
