The IV Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions was held in Astana from 30 to 31 May. This event was united by one main theme "Peace and harmony as the choice of mankind". In total, the event was attended by 87 honorary guests from 40 countries of the world, among whom was His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
According to information published on the official website of the congress, the main idea of the event was to lay the foundation for creating and strengthening the world order in the 21st century. One way or another, this was discussed in several sections during the meeting.
At one of them, leaders of different religions were named, their contribution to the development of culture, as well as in resolving interreligious contradictions and a number of other conflicts in the modern world, was discussed. In addition, at the first sectional session, a proposal was repeatedly made for further cooperation of the audience, the purpose of which would be the sustainable development of civilization within the framework of the formula “man-society-nature”.
Then they discussed the need for multiculturalism, which, according to the leaders of world religions, is very important in modern civilization, because it helps to create a harmonious society based on cultural differences. This session addressed not only issues related to the establishment of multiculturalism - the parallel existence of cultures in society, but also possible problems that may arise in case of failure.
A separate section was deserved for the role of women in cultivating family values and fostering love for religion in children. In the opinion of the congress participants, this topic is of immediate relevance in the context of the blurring and partial loss of some ethical norms in the modern world. The seriousness and necessity of discussing such a topic is evidenced by the fact that among the main questions of this breakout session was the following: "Woman's responsibility for the future of the nation, the planet."
Touching upon the problems of the future, the leaders of world religions also noted the problem of educating young people, who from time immemorial have been an opponent of conservatism and a progressive intellectual force. The participants in the meeting expressed a unanimous opinion in helping young people to choose the true faith, and not worship false ideals. They paid special attention to fostering mutual respect in society and countering terrorism among young people.
