A Russian citizen may have a desire to move to Kiev in connection with his professional or personal life. With such a change of residence, it is necessary to take into account that for a permanent life in Ukraine, a Russian needs to draw up special documents.

Step 1
Decide on what basis you plan to move to the country. Short visits, for example, for tourism purposes, can be made by Russian citizens without a visa. If you want to stay and live in Kiev, you will need to apply for a long-term visa or residence permit. The reason for this may be work, study at a higher educational institution, marriage with a citizen of Ukraine, the presence of close relatives with a Ukrainian passport. Also, a residence permit can be applied for by someone who was previously a citizen of Ukraine, but subsequently refused the passport of this country in favor of obtaining another citizenship.
Step 2
Find a job in Kiev. This can be done remotely, using special job search sites, or in person. Take advantage of the right to visit the Ukrainian capital without a visa and meet with the employers you are interested in during the interview.
Step 3
Buy or rent an apartment in Kiev. For the first time, you can choose any option that is approximately suitable for your price, and later, if necessary, move. The housing market in Kiev is quite diverse, and in terms of prices it is inferior to Moscow.
Step 4
Get a residence permit in Ukraine. This can be done both in Kiev itself and in Russia - at the Ukrainian embassy. Before submitting documents, issue a passport, if you have not done so before. Prepare a package of papers confirming your purpose of stay in Ukraine. These include documents confirming kinship with Ukrainians, an official letter from the company where you found a job, an invitation to study at a university. When submitting documents, add to them passport photographs and a completed application form, which can be downloaded from the website of the Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow. After obtaining such a residence permit, you will be able to officially get a job in Kiev.
