Family and roots

The actor, who was born in the capital on January 31, 1939, was very proud of his noble roots. He took his mother's maiden name in order to preserve the family, but he did not succeed, he had no children. Alexander's maternal great-grandfather was a nobleman, founder and owner of the Moscow "Slavianski Bazaar". As part of his charitable activities, he made a significant contribution to the creation of the project and the construction of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Grandfather was busy with inventive activity, did a lot for the development of military technology in the country, refused to leave even in the difficult years of repression, was arrested and died in the camps.

By the time the child was born, his mother, Galina Aleksandrovna, did not even have time to graduate from GITIS, his father, Shalva Babaridze, was a novice surgeon. According to the actor himself, the father left the family when the child was 2 years old. According to another version, he volunteered for the front, and his mother was already married by the time of his return at the end of the war. One way or another, Sasha grew up with his stepfather, a military architect Mikhail Dudin.

In the early sixties, the family moved to the Urals, where the military industry was intensively developing, and qualified personnel were required. There, in Chelyabinsk, in 1957, the young man graduated from high school. He did not show much zeal for knowledge, was inclined to spend time in the yard, went in for sports, he was seriously carried away by boxing, had a category for him.

The medical institute, where Sasha planned to continue his education, was never finished. After the third year, he and his family returned to Moscow.

The path to the profession

Porokhovshchikov mastered the acting craft, combining work and study. The props of the Vakhtangov Theater attended acting classes in the evenings. Then he immediately entered the famous "Pike" (Shchukin Theater School) in the evening department and successfully completed the course in 1966.

Alexander Porokhovshchikov's career began with the stage of the theater of satire. Together with Andrei Mironov, he played in "Profitable Place", there were several other characteristic roles. There is an assumption that the play "Profitable Place", removed from the repertoire by an order from above, very vividly depicted the behavior of officials, which was achieved by the expressive play of the young artist.

Five years later, he got into the famous Lyubov's collective of the Taganka Theater and served there for ten years. He played roles in Hamlet, Kruglyansky Bridge, Crossroads.

Then, for 17 years, he served on the stage of the Pushkin Theater, where he played about a dozen roles, and at the end of the 90s he left to teach at GITIS.

Almost from the beginning of Porokhovshchikov's acting steps, his work in cinema begins. The first film work with his participation was the film "The Sculptor". The role was insignificant, but the directors noticed him. Since then, the artist has had no shortage of offers to act. In total, about 115 films were released with the participation of the talented actor, but he considered the most significant work in the film "One among strangers, a stranger among friends" and was very grateful to N. Mikhalkov for it. Despite the fact that the roles in the films were mainly of a negative type, his popularity grew with each new work in the cinema.

There are also six directorial works of the talented artist. The most significant of them are considered "Destroy the Thirtieth!" and "I Don't Allow Censorship to Remember", the last of which is dedicated to the family roots of the Porokhovshchikovs and was filmed according to his script. For him, the film received three nominations at once.

Alexander Shalvovich is the founder of the TEM Rodina studio. These were the first signs of private cinema.

The creative activity of the actor and director Alexander Porokhovshchikov has been awarded many prizes and awards. In 1994 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Russian Federation.

Love and family life

The young man met his first great and sincere love in the city of his youth - Chelyabinsk. The girl reciprocated, but her parents were against, considering the guy below their high position. With Alexander's move to the capital, the relationship ended.

Subsequently, there was a girl Lida from a poor family. Here the actor's mother has already opposed.

Thus, the family life of the famous artist did not develop for a long time. There were women, but the matter did not reach the registry office.

And in the Pushkin Theater, an already venerable actor meets a very young costume designer. Her age at that time in different sources varies from 14 to 19 years. Their relationship is often compared to Nabokov's Lolita; a big scandal in the press almost flares up. And my mother is against their relationship with a girl who is fit for a daughter.

Their life together began in the nine-meter room of Irina Zhukova. They signed only after 15 years of marriage. The wife took her husband's surname. Later they got married. The married life lasted thirty years.

In the last years of his life Porokhovshchikov was seriously ill, he needed a constant diet and care. Due to the harmful effects of diabetes, he was forced to take his foot away, and heart problems began. The actor never left the hospital.

He did not happen to find out that his beloved Irina voluntarily gave up life before him, unable to withstand constant harassment and slander.

He passed away on April 15, 2012.
