The makings of a scientist in Alexander Dolgin are combined with the grip of an entrepreneur. In the middle of his life, a specialist in metals and alloys retrained into a businessman. Dogin paid special attention to the construction industry. Alas, the business of his development firm ended up being deplorable. Dolgin's construction company was declared bankrupt by the court.
From the biography of A. Dolgin
The future entrepreneur and scientist was born on January 17, 1961 in the capital of Ukraine. Even as a child, Sasha already dreamed of becoming a world famous researcher and scientist. The family didn't mind. A. Dolgin received his higher education at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, from which he graduated in 1983. Physics of metals became his specialty.
A. Dolgin has a Ph. D. in technical sciences and is the author of more than three hundred scientific and popular articles. At one time, Alexander Borisovich headed a laboratory at a research institute, devoting a lot of time to studying the useful properties of metals.
Dolgin could have done a lot in science, but he was attracted by other prospects. The ebullient energy of the scientist found another way out: after the transition of the Russian economy to the rails of capitalist development, Alexander Borisovich plunged into business. Here he also managed to excel, gaining scandalous fame.
Entrepreneur Dolgin
In the early 90s, Dolgin became one of the founders of the Soyuznikhrom metallurgical holding company. He headed the holding until 2001. The group included, among other enterprises, a precision alloys plant in Vladimir and PA Magneton.
In 2001, Alexander Borisovich founded a foundation called "Pragmatics of Culture", which was engaged in scientific research. Since 2003, Dolgin has been a professor at the Higher School of Economics.
In 2007, Dolgin turned his attention to the construction industry. He founded the development firm Urban Group. Then - the Internet service "Imhonet" (the project was closed in 2017 due to the economic inexpediency of its continuation). Several structures of Dolgin's development company were declared bankrupt by court in 2018. At the same time, problems arose with the infringed rights of equity holders in construction, which had to be resolved by the government of the country, as well as the leadership of the Moscow region.
After the scandal with his construction companies, Dolgin left Russia for a long time and lived abroad until the end of 2018. The plaintiff's representatives in court argued that the head of the holding had repeatedly withdrawn large funds from the Urban Group to his personal accounts. An investigation into the activities of the Russian businessman showed that he had withdrawn from fulfilling his obligation to equity holders for tens of billions of Russian rubles. Dolgin deliberately overestimated the cost of building objects more than once, as evidenced by an audit.
The press learned that Dolgin intends to sell his personal assets: a mansion near the Lubyanka and a solid premises in the Aerodrom business center. However, potential buyers may well get burned on the deal: the sale of any property of a notorious entrepreneur can be challenged in court.
