Gary Alan Sinise is an American film and theater actor, screenwriter, director, producer and musician. He was multiple Golden Globe nominations for his roles in Forrest Gump, Truman and George Wallace, and was also an Oscar nominee for Best Supporting Actor in Forrest Gump.
During his film career, Sinise has appeared in over fifty films. He also directed two feature films, three TV series, produced six films and co-wrote the acclaimed series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation New York.
Gary is the founder of the American Steppenwolf Theater, named after the famous novel by the writer G. Hesse. For over fifteen years, Gary has been a member of the music group Lt. Dan Band.

early years
The boy was born in Illinois in the spring of 1955. His father, Robert L. Sinise, was a renowned filmmaker, and Gary was introduced to the art world from an early age.
During his school years, Gary was passionate about music and theater, played in one of the local bands and performed on the stage of the local theater. After his role in the play "West Side Story", he decided that he would devote his life to the stage and become a famous artist.
Studying at school was given to Gary with great difficulty: he missed classes and only thanks to the persistent demands of his parents did he manage to graduate. After that, Gary immediately took up his acting career.
Creative way
At the age of twenty, together with his friend J. Malkovich Sinise created his own theater called "Steppenwolf", which later became one of the most popular in Chicago. Based on a play by Pulitzer Prize winner Sam Shepard, Sinise and the theater troupe make his Broadway debut and receive well-deserved acclaim from audiences and critics alike.
After success in the theater field, Gary decides to go to Hollywood and start a career in cinema. But he was disappointed. After going through numerous auditions, the actor never received an invitation to shoot. Sinise goes to look for work on television and has been working on the set of television projects as a director for several years.
Gary only appeared on the big screen in the 90s, when he got a role in the movie "Midnight Clear". After that, he acted as a director and actor in the film "About Mice and People", which allowed him to express himself in full.
The rise of his acting career came in the mid-90s, when Gary began to be invited to new projects. He co-starred with Tom Hanks in the acclaimed film Forrest Gump and received several Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for his portrayal of Vietnam War veteran Dan Taylor.
This was followed by the role of Ken Mattingly in the film "Apollo 13" and President Truman in the television series of the same name. Together with Mel Gibson and Rene Russo, Gary starred in Ransom. In Brian De Palma's "Eyes of the Serpent", the actor gets the main role, and N. Cage and J. Hurd become his partners on the set. Sinise's subsequent roles in the films became successful as well: "The Green Mile", "Mission to Mars", "Alien", "Tainted Reputation", "Forgotten".
In addition to working in the cinema, Gary took part in the scoring of popular cartoons several times, including "Hunting Season". He also continues to work in his theater, directing, producing and music.
Personal life
Gary met his future wife, Moira Harris, when he was still young. They started working together in the theater, and soon their romance grew into a serious relationship.
In 1981, Moira and Gary became husband and wife. They have three children: Ella, McCann Anthony and Sophie.
