The jubilee celebrations dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of the birth of Russian statehood will be held in Veliky Novgorod on September 21-23, 2012. September 21 is a historic date: the 150th anniversary of the inauguration of the monument to the Millennium of Russia in the Novgorod Kremlin.
Also on September 21, the World Day of Russian Unity and the Day of Russian Military Glory are celebrated. On this day in 1380, Russian regiments led by Dmitry Donskoy defeated the Mongol-Tatars in the Battle of Kulikovo.
In September in Veliky Novgorod, in addition to celebrating the 1150th anniversary of Russian statehood, several events will be held dedicated to this event.
The International Parade of Historic Ships presents reconstructed historical ships, such as the ushkui, the Slavic boat, the Pomorskaya boat and others, from Moscow, Petrozavodsk, St. Petersburg and some other cities in Russia and Europe.
The Historical Reenactment Festival will be held in a living history format. This means that guests of the festival can become not only eyewitnesses, but participants in the events of Russian history 1000 years ago. Festival participants will completely reject all the benefits of modern civilization.
The interregional festival of bell art "Golden Ringing" will be held with the support of the Association of Bell Art of Russia, it will contribute to the revival of bell art in Novgorod and the region itself.
Within the framework of the festival of arts "Festival of the Five Kremlins" concerts will be held by creative groups of the cities in which the Kremlin is located - monuments of cultural heritage.

After the solemn presentation of the project in Novgorod, it will be shown in the cities participating in the celebrations, and then - in other settlements of the Novgorod region.
Also dedicated to the birth of the Russian state, a laser-pyrotechnic show, which will be held in the water area of the Volkhov River.
In September, craftsmen and artisans from cities where it is planned to celebrate the 1150th anniversary of Russian statehood will come to Veliky Novgorod. These are Moscow, Yaroslavl, Pskov, Vologda, of course, Veliky Novgorod.
And finally: the international scientific conference "Novgorodika - 2012. At the origins of Russian statehood." Its goal is to unite scientific forces and views on Novgorod. A collection of materials will be published as a result of the conference.
