Fantasy art works, in which, against the background of an invasion of aliens or other frightening situation, there is a constant struggle between good and evil, are popular with readers. In Stephenie Meyer's book "Guest", in addition to the main theme, there is also a secondary one: the possibility of love and friendship between two opponents: an alien and a human.

The plot and development of the plot

The inhabitants of one of the distant planets, the true essence of which is a small fragile lump with a thousand nerve endings, called a soul, conquered the Earth with the help of cunning. For them, people are only carriers in whose body they can exist. There are almost no representatives of humanity with an unclouded mind - a few stray into groups and hide in the mountains, occasionally making forays into the cities for food.

Melanie is captured by the aliens, and they, trying to find out information about the whereabouts of the rest of the partisans, add the Wanderer to her - a soul who has visited many planets. Waking up in a new body, she tries to live like the rest of her race, but the glimpses of Melanie's memory, as well as herself, who has not completely disappeared, force the Wanderer to abandon everything and make a desperate journey to the mountains, to the place where the beloved man may be and the girl's younger brother.

Another reason that prompted the Wanderer to leave civilized places is the persistent pursuit of her seeker, who poses a threat to Jamie - a little boy from Melanie's memory.

Morality of the piece

For a book to be a true masterpiece, a moral idea must be clearly traced in it, and The Guest by Stephenie Meyer is no exception. Having got to the remnants of real people, the Wanderer becomes their captive, because she is a representative of their worst enemy. But thanks to its kind essence, which Jamie and uncle immediately felt, the soul gradually attracts the rest of the inhabitants of the cave. Thus, the main idea of the novel is whether irreconcilable enemies can stand on one side of the barrier and experience friendly feelings and even love for each other.

While in Melanie's body, the Wanderer has an irresistible fondness for Jared, her man, and Jamie, her younger brother. But at the same time, feelings arise in her soul for Ian, who once tried to kill her, but became a friend.

Melanie, deeply hidden in her mind and allowed to find a cave in which a handful of guerrillas are hiding, considers her mission complete and gradually disappears. But during the trials she became a real sister for the Wanderer, who does not want to part with her "human" half. Difficult relationships with people force her to side with them in the fight against the aliens and help them return the planet to them, even though her own life is at stake.
