Twin sisters Anastasia and Maria Tolmachev became the first winners from Russia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006.
Again, the girls delighted the audience in 2014 with their performance at the Copenhagen Eurovision Song Contest.
Childhood time
The girls were born on January 14 in Kursk in 1997. Father is a factory worker, mother is a teacher at a local music school.
From the age of six, the twins began serious classes in the children's pop studio "Sverchok". Later Masha and Nastya performed with the Jam studio.
At first, the teacher refused to take artists that were too small in her opinion. However, after listening, I changed the decision.
From an early age, the sisters differed in musical tastes. Masha preferred domestic performers. Nastya liked foreign rhythms more.
The sisters actively participated in competitions. The first results were victories in the "Golden Boat", "Nevsky Zvezdochki" and I in the "Constellation of the Young", which took place in 2005. New successes were getting closer and closer to the finest hour.
Fulfillment of desire
In 2006, at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the Tolmachev sisters fulfilled their childhood dream and brought victory to their native country. The song "Spring Jazz" was written independently.
Creative activity intensified after the triumph. In 2007, young singers took part in the "Slavianski Bazaar", won the Muz-TV Prize.
At the same time, the shooting of the musical "Kingdom of Crooked Mirrors" took place. In it the girls performed the song "Ding-Don" together with Alla Pugacheva.
Nastya and Masha have released their album "Halves". However, children's success did not stop creative development. The sisters decided to participate in a more adult competition.
At the end of 2013, it became known that the Tolmachevs would represent Russia at Eurovision 2014. The singers chose the song "Shine" for their performance.
Despite the strongest competition, the girls confidently performed in the semifinals and advanced to the final.
Successful career
The singers were received very warmly. They became everyone's favorites. At the Grand Final, the sisters sang flawlessly, but the most shocking participant, Conchita Wurst, became the winner.
After the prestigious competition, the girls' career went up. In the same years, the Tolmachevs presented the hit "Half". A year later, a clip was shot for the composition in black and white.
The songs "My Heart" and "One Love for Two" were created for the girls. The Tolmachevs were on the jury of the selection round of the project “Voice. Children”, held in Kursk in 2015.
In the program "One to One" the sisters performed in the form of the duet Baccara.
After the ninth grade, the girls decided to enter the Gnessin School.
Parents dissuaded them from undertaking, offering to finish their studies.
Present time
Over time, Nastya and Masha realized that vocals for them are more a hobby than a profession. After school, the sisters entered the Institute of Arts and Culture of Belgorod at the faculty of directing and producing.
After completing the first course, the Tolmachevs opened a children's workshop of pop art in Kursk.
The singers continue their creative activities. At the end of 2017, the girls took part in the recording of the New Year's "Blue Light".
In 2018, Maria and Anastasia performed with the hit "Shine" in the fan zone of the FIFA World Cup in Rostov-on-Don.
Girls prefer not to advertise their personal life. Nastya already has a young man. Masha's heart is still free.
In clothing, both prefer a feminine style of clothing. The sisters have pets, Chinese crested puffs Zlata and Marik.
