Meltem Jumbul is a wonderful Turkish actress and TV presenter, Circassian by birth. In Russia, she is best known as the performer of the role of Fatma Sultan in the soap opera The Magnificent Century.
Early years and the beginning of acting
Meltem Jumbul was born in 1969 in the Turkish city of Izmir in the family of an employee of the bank Sedat Jumbul.
At thirteen, she moved to Istanbul. Here Meltem graduated from high school, and then the theater department of the University of Fine Arts. Mimara Sinan.
In 1993, Jumbul started working on TV and became the host of the reality show "Yukari Asagi". And in 1995 she made her film debut - she starred in the films Bay E (1995) and Böcek (1995).
Jumbul first starred in the Turkish comedy Funny Pizza (1998). This was followed by several more successful works - the role of Emin in the Austrian drama "Born in Absurdistan" (1999) and the role of Zeyno in the popular Turkish TV series "Yilan Hikayesi" (1999-2002).
Further creativity
An important milestone in Jumbul's career was the painting "The Fall of Abdulhamit" (2002). For her role in it, the actress received an award from the International Antalya Film Festival "Golden Orange". The very same picture, by the way, won the main prize of the Berlin Film Festival - the Golden Bear.
In 2004, the Eurovision Song Contest was held in Turkey. And one of its hosts was just Meltem Jumbul. For three days, she, together with her partner Korhan Abay, represented performers from different countries and their competitive compositions.
In addition, in 2004, Meltem starred in the German film about the life of immigrants from Turkey "Head against the Wall" (directed by Fatih Akin). This film received high ratings from viewers and a good box office not only in Europe, but also, for example, in the United States.
The actress gained even more fame after filming the film "Wound" (2005). She brilliantly played here a girl named Dunya, who is obsessively pursued by her ex-husband. As a result, this role brought the actress the French FIPRESCI award.
In the same 2005, Jumbul went to the United States, where she studied with Eric Morris, one of the best acting teachers in the world. And when she returned back, she herself began to work with students according to the Morris methods at one of the universities in Istanbul.
Further, the actress starred in several more films. Among them are "Beautiful Life" (2008), "Alphabet Killer" (2008), "Tell Me, God" (2011), "Labyrinth" (2011).
Meltem Jumbul's success, of course, should also include her appearance in the fourth season of The Magnificent Century series (series 104-139), which was broadcast for the first time from September 2013 to June 2014 on the Turkish Star TV channel. Here, viewers saw the actress in the image of the influential Fatma Sultan (this heroine, by the way, has a real prototype in history). In the series, Fatma is presented as a loving and cheerful woman, "the mistress of pleasure and entertainment." It is known that for filming in the "Magnificent Century" Jumbul received quite large fees - 30,000 Turkish lira (at the current exchange rate it is more than 320,000 rubles) per episode.
In 2015, the actress starred in the comedy You Burned Me as Leila. And while this is her last film role. Today Meltem Jumbul pays more attention to her own theater, which was organized by her not so long ago. In this theater, she also performs the duties of a director of performances.
Personal life
The actress was married twice, and both marriages were childless. In 2003 she became the wife of the architect Chaglayan Tugal. However, already in 2004, the couple divorced. In August 2012, Meltem Jumbul married again - this time to Turkish actor Alijan Ozbash. This union was also short-lived - in early 2013, the couple filed for divorce.
It is also known that in 2009 Meltem Jumbul began an affair with actor Kıvanç Tatlitug, who is 14 years younger than her and who is often called “Turkish Brad Pitt” in the press. At some point, this relationship reached an impasse - it never came to the wedding ceremony.
