When you move into a new house or into your old home after renovation has been done there, you often notice that it is not equipped. Of course, the apartment may have all the signs of everyday comfort - electric lighting, heating, but there is a feeling that something is missing. And perhaps there is not enough spiritual warmth. Therefore, your home needs to be sanctified.

Step 1
It is not enough to invite a priest to consecrate an apartment. You should prepare your home for this ordinance yourself. If there are icons in the house, put them in a special place of honor ("red corner"). The usual place for icons is by the south-facing window on the east side of the room.
Step 2
Place the cross above the icons or in their top row. Do not put pictures of your loved ones next to icons and do not decorate icons with paper flowers or electric garlands. It would be appropriate to place a clean white towel next to the icons.
Step 3
Usually, the consecration of a dwelling is performed by a priest, who should be invited in advance. But if for some reason it is impossible to do this, you can consecrate the dwelling yourself, the church provides such a right. It is advisable to do this on the day of Epiphany (Epiphany) or on the eve of this day. Take baptismal water in the church and sprinkle your home everywhere, accompanying the procedure with the singing of the baptismal troparion. It is necessary to sprinkle with a brush from a rosary or a handful, crosswise.
Step 4
After sprinkling the apartment with blessed water, use a candle to smoke four walls of the dwelling on all sides of the horizon, depicting a cross. If there is no candle, you can simply depict a small cross on the walls in a different way.
Step 5
Store the consecrated water in the "red corner" where the icons are, and not in the kitchen or bookcase.
Step 6
After the consecration of the apartment, refrain from smoking in it, foul language and committing sinful acts. The second time the apartment is usually not consecrated.
