Artist biography
The future screen star was born in Baku on September 16, 1945. His dad was Armenian and his mother was Jewish. His surname Petrosyants, Evgeny Vaganovich, already speaking on stage, shortened for a better sound. The boy's childhood years passed in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku.
Once a cousin took Eugene to a humorous concert, and even then the boy realized that he also wanted to make people laugh. Moreover, these were difficult post-war years, when everyone was in grief and despair. But the parents took this zeal of the child without much enthusiasm. They had nothing to do with art. Dad worked as a teacher, and mom was a housewife.
But Eugene has already set himself the goal of becoming an artist and began a long way to achieve it. At first, he participated in various performances of the school puppet theater, and also independently showed small feuilletons and humorous scenes.
After leaving school, Petrosyan moved to Moscow, where he entered the creative workshop of pop art, where famous theater and film actors Rina Zelenaya and A. Alekseev became his teachers. Already in 1962, he began his first concerts on the big stage.
Then Evgeny worked as an entertainer in the ensemble under the direction of Utesov, and then worked for more than twenty years at the Mosconcert. During this time, Petrosyan managed to get another education and graduate from GITIS. And also to acquire the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR. Later in 1991 he was awarded another title - People's Artist.
