Roy Keane is an Irish footballer. Legendary captain of the Red Devils and leader of the Irish national team. The owner of a huge number of team and personal achievements.
In August 1971, on the tenth, in the small Irish town of Cork, the future footballer Roy Maurice Keane was born. The boy's parents were ordinary workers, his father did not have a permanent job and was forced to take on any part-time jobs. In the Keene family, sport was held in high esteem, many relatives of the future star played football at an amateur level. Roy himself did not feel much sympathy for football, and from childhood he began to engage in boxing. Nevertheless, at the insistence of his parents, he began to combine boxing with football, he was accepted into the local amateur club "Rockmount", in which he spent ten years.
Roy Keane impressed one of the breeders of the famous English club Nottingham Forest with his creative play at an amateur level. He soon received an invitation to the club, and in 1990 Keane signed his first professional contract with this team. At Nottingham, the talented footballer has had three fruitful seasons, starting almost every game. 154 appearances, 33 goals, a brilliant performance in the 1991 FA Cup Final, and as a result, the real hunt for Keane began.
The modest club Blackburn Rovers was the favorite, and London's Arsenal was also among those wishing to get a promising player. When the deal with Blackburn was almost completed, the legendary coach of the Red Devils Sir Alex Ferguson called Keane literally overnight and asked: does the talented athlete want to play a little for the famous Manchester United? The young footballer without hesitation refused to move to Blackburn, and two weeks later, Keane trained at the base of the Red Devils.
Roy Keane understood that a big club would have to work hard to get into the squad. From the very first match he gave all the best, the head coach liked the agility of the young player and he more and more often released Keane on the field. Roy coped with the task, and from the next season he became one of the key players of the "Red Devils". Having played superbly for four seasons, Roy Keane received the captain's armband in 1997, which he did not part with until his departure from the club in 2005.
As part of Manchester United, Keane won all sorts of club trophies: he became the champion of England seven times, four times won the FA Cup, four times the country's Super Cup. And in 1999 he became one of those lucky ones who got the treble - in one season Manchester United won the FA Cup, the Intercontinental Cup and the Champions League Cup. Roy Keane ended his playing career at Celtic Scottish in 2006.
The famous football player is married. His chosen one is called Teresa Doyle, they met in 1992, and five years later the couple got married. Roy and Teresa have five children: Aidan, Leah, Karag, Alana and Shannon.
