War veterans have benefits for housing and utility bills. They have the right to study and receive medical treatment free of charge, and take an active part in public life.
The state has provided for a number of social support measures for combat veterans. Persons with such a status and the benefits they are entitled to are determined by the law "On Veterans" No. 5-FZ of 12.01.1995. It covers many spheres of life of those who fought in hot spots and defended the Fatherland. Assistance is provided at the expense of the federal and regional budgets.
In particular, a monthly cash payment is made from the federal budget.
Lodging
For all veterans, there is a payment discount of 50% of the occupied living space (maintenance). It is also provided to family members, regardless of the type of housing stock. And those who became disabled due to injury, received an injury or concussion while performing military duties, are eligible for a 50% discount on utility bills. It also applies to family members of the veteran.
War veterans are provided with housing. Those who registered before January 1, 2005, in accordance with Article 23.2 of the Law "On Veterans", after January 1, 2005 - in accordance with the housing legislation of the Russian Federation.
Veterans have an advantage when joining housing, garage cooperatives, horticultural and dacha associations.
Health
The state also cares about the health of veterans. They retain service in departmental clinics and other medical institutions to which the veterans were assigned before retirement. They are primarily provided with free medical care in federal health care institutions. War veterans are provided with prostheses (except for dental ones) and orthopedic products free of charge.
Education
Veterans have the opportunity to study and receive free education. They can enter out of competition in state educational institutions of higher and secondary vocational education. A special scholarship is paid to veteran students. You can study at advanced training and retraining courses. In this case, the employer pays for the studies.
War veterans actively participate in public life, create associations and veteran organizations. The law gives them the right to preferential use of cultural, sports and health facilities.
Additional measures of social support for combat veterans are envisaged in the regions. Information about them can be obtained from the territorial Department of Social Protection at the place of residence.
