early years
The biography of Prince Alexander Vasilyevich Trubetskoy begins on June 14, 1813 in St. Petersburg. The famous Trubetskoy family belongs to an old rich noble family.
Education
He studied at home, never attended schools, lyceums or gymnasiums. In 1830, having successfully passed the exams, he was able to join the cavalry regiment as a cadet, and already in 1831 he was promoted to cornet.
Alexander Vasilyevich, along with some other cavalry guards, belonged to the close circle of the great empress Alexandra Feodorovna, moreover, Trubetskoy often accompanied the empress in walks and sledding, it was Alexander Vasilyevich who was her favorite.
Military career
Thanks to his good education, hard work and, to some extent, the benevolence of Alexandra Feodorovna, Trubetskoy was able to build a successful military career. So, in 1834, 21-year-old Alexander Vasilyevich was a lieutenant, in 1836 - a staff-captain, in 1840 - a captain. However, in 1842, for personal reasons, he was dismissed from military service with the rank of colonel. It is believed that the reason for the dismissal was the affair of Alexander Vasilyevich with Maria Taglioni, who left the Russian Empire for Italy.
In 1852, Trubetskoy, eager to reunite with his beloved, went abroad, but in Italy he married Countess Maria Eugenia Gilbert de Vesuin, daughter of Maria Taglioni. During these years Trubetskoy applied in vain to move to Italy for permanent residence, but the emperor not only did not allow the prince to leave his homeland, but also set clear terms in which Alexander Vasilyevich had to return. Within the allotted time, Trubetskoy did not return, so he was stripped of all titles and fortune and was expelled from the Russian Empire.
However, Trubetskoy's case was not forgotten, and after a few years he was allowed to re-enter the service. From 1855 to 1874, Alexander Vasilyevich served in the Novomirgorod Uhlan regiment, the Evpatoria detachment, and also in Marseilles.
On November 1, 1874, the 61-year-old Prince Trubetskoy led the troops of the Orenburg district, becoming commander, in 1876 he commanded the troops of the Turkestan military district, and in 1882 - the Odessa military district. A year later he was enlisted in the reserve, but not for long: in 1884 he again commanded troops in Orenburg, and in 1885 he was awarded the rank of major general.
At the age of 75, on April 17, 1889, Alexander Vasilyevich Trubetskoy died of heart failure. Buried in the village of Berezki.

Trubetskoy had an affair with Maria Taglione, from whom the prince had an illegitimate son.
Was married. Wife - Maria Eugenia Gilbert de Vesuan. Had 5 children: Sergei (1854-1882), Margarita (1857-1938), Alexander (1859-1900), George (1861-1898) and Alexei (1866-1896). They all belonged to the ranks of the influential French nobility.
