The film "Keeper of Time" by the famous director Martin Scorsese is based on the novel by Brian Seleznik "The Inventions of Hugo Cabre". The film tells the story of an orphan boy, whose life unexpectedly intersected with the fate of the great Georges Méliès, a French filmmaker.

In the original version, the film is called "Hugo", it was the Russian distributors who renamed it "Keeper of Time" in order to increase the box office, intriguing with a hint of a fantastic plot development. In fact, there is nothing like this in the picture, but this does not make it less interesting. So, what is, in short, the essence of this touching story?
Step 2
Little boy Hugo was orphaned early - first his mother died, then his father died in a fire, leaving behind only a notebook with incomprehensible drawings and a mysterious mechanical robot. For many years he tried to bring this car back to life with Hugo, but did not have time. Now the boy is obsessed with the idea of fixing the mechanical man. It seems to the orphan that this is the last thread that connects him with his father. And if the robot comes to life, it will transmit a message from the deceased father.
Step 3
The kid lives at the huge Parisian train station Montparnasse. Here he was settled by his only relative - an alcoholic uncle who works as a watchmaker. But then he disappeared somewhere. And Hugo continues to keep the big train station clock alive. And he tries so that no one would guess that there is no real guardian. He is especially frightened by a meeting with a cruel station superintendent, a lame war veteran, who catches little vagrants and sends them to an orphanage.
