By the beginning of 2014, more than seventy officially registered political parties already existed in Russia. They unite in their ranks the most active citizens who want to take a direct part in the life of the country. To become a party member, it is necessary to share its program provisions and fulfill a number of mandatory requirements that are enshrined in the party charter.
Party membership principles
Joining a political party is a crucial step. Such a decision must be balanced and deliberate. Any party is interested in having active participants in its ranks, not passive "ballast". Before applying to join the ranks of a political association, you must clearly understand why you need it. Do you share the provisions of the program and the charter of the party? Are you ready to actively participate in its activities and be of use to the party?
It is possible to become a member of the party only on an individual and voluntary basis. It should be borne in mind that a candidate for membership in the party must reach the age of eighteen and be legally capable. The RF Law "On Political Parties" and, accordingly, the statutes of political organizations exclude simultaneous membership in several parties.
Refusal to admit to the ranks of any political party on grounds of race, social, religious or professional affiliation is not allowed. When joining a party, the place of residence, property status and gender of the candidate are also irrelevant. However, citizens of a foreign state or those who do not have citizenship cannot become party members.
How to become a party member
For admission to the party, you must submit a written application to one of the regional organizations. The specific procedure for submitting applications and the timing of their consideration are usually prescribed in the charter party documents. The first step for those who wish to join the party is to visit the local party organization. There are regional branches of large parties in most of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
The official representative of the party conducts an introductory conversation with the candidate, during which he finds out the motives that prompted him to make the decision to join the political association. If a citizen meets the requirements of the party charter on formal grounds, he is invited to fill out a candidate's questionnaire. It should be borne in mind that in a number of parties a probationary period is established, during which the business and personal qualities of the candidate are ascertained.
The candidate is invited to take an active part in the affairs of the primary organization. In a working environment, it is easier for a person to understand the programmatic provisions of the party, to assimilate the requirements of the rules and norms of party behavior. During two to three months of the probationary period, the candidate clearly realizes whether he made the right decision. The organization, in turn, can conclude whether the candidate meets the party's requirements.
After the end of the candidate's term, the primary party cell (regional branch) makes a decision on the admission of a citizen to the party. This is usually preceded by a candidate's report on the implementation of party assignments and an open discussion of the candidacy. If a positive decision on admission is made, the citizen receives a party card, and along with it - the rights and obligations of a party member.
